Ամերիկայի Միացյալ Նահանգների Ջորջիա նահանգի սենատն ապրիլ ամիսը հռչակել է որպես ցեղասպանությունների կանխարգելման և իրազեկման ամիս: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, համապատասխան բանաձևն ընդունվել է փետրվարի 17-ին:

Որպես բանաձևի ընդունման հիմնավորում՝ նշվում է, որ պատմության ընթացքում ապրիլին տեղի են ունեցել տարբեր ցեղասպանություններ կամ սկսվել են ցեղասպանությանը հանգեցրած իրադարձություններ, իսկ ցեղասպանագիտական շատ հաստատություններ հենց ապրիլն են նշում որպես ցեղասպանությունների դեմ պայքարի ու կանխարգելման ամիս:

Այնուհետև ընդգծվում է, որ Երկրորդ համաշխարհային պատերազմի ընթացքում Ռաֆայել Լեմկինի կողմից «ցեղասպանություն» եզրույթը՝ որպես որևէ ազգային, կրոնական կամ էթնիկ խմբի մասնակիորեն կամ ամբողջությամբ մտադրված համակարգված ոչնչացման նկարագրում, ստեղծվել է՝ նկատի ունենալով 1915 թ. ապրիլից սկսած հայերի և այլ քրիստոնյա ժողովուրդների ոչնչացումը, բռնագաղթերն ու բռնի ուծացումը: Այնուհետև հիմնավորման մեջ նշվում է 1939 թ. սեպտեմբերին Ադոլֆ Հիտլերի հնչեցրած հայտնի խոսքը՝ «Ո՞վ է, ի վերջո, այսօր հիշում հայերի ոչնչացման մասին»:

Բանաձևում վկայակոչվում են նաև հրեաների Հոլոքոսթը, Կամբոջայի, Բոսնիայի, Ռուանդայի, Դարֆուրի ցեղասպանությունները, 1984-1988 թթ. Սադամ Հուսեյնի վարչակարգի կողմից քրդերի դեմ, ինչպես նաև 2014թ.-ից առայսօր «Իսլամական պետություն» ահաբեկչական խմբավորման կողմից Իրաքում և Սիրիայում եզդիների դեմ իրականացվող ցեղասպանական ակտերը:

Ներածության մեջ բանաձևի ընդունումը կարևորվել է հատկապես անցյալ և ներկայում տեղի ունեցող ցեղասպանությունների վերաբերյալ հանրային տեղեկացման և ապագայում նման ոճիրների կանխարգելման անհրաժեշտության տեսանկյունից:

Ջորջիա նահանգի սենատը 1915-1923 թթ. Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը ճանաչող առանձին բանաձև է ընդունել 2011 թ. ապրիլի 22-ին:
