Հանրահայտ երգիչ Սեմ Սմիթը, որ նախօրեին «Օսկար» մրցանակի էր արժանացել, իր արձանիկը նվիրել է աշխարհի միասեռականներին:
The Independent-ը հայտնում է, որ դրանից հետո սոցցանցերում թեժ քննարկումներ են սկսվել: Իսկ սոցցանցերը, նկատում է աղբյուրը, «մի աշխարհ են, որտեղ չեն ներում»: Նրան մասնավորապես հիշեցրել են, որ ինքն ամենևին էլ առաջին գեյ օսկարակիրը չէ:
Իր հերթին աղբյուրը բազմաթիվ անուններ է նշել «Լավագույն օրիգինալ կատարում» անվանակարգում, որոնք հիմնականում միասեռականներ են եղել՝ սըր Էլթոն Ջոնի գլխավորությամբ:
