Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանը Արևմտյան Աֆրիկա կատարելից այցելությունից առաջ օդանավակայանում պատասխանել է լրագրողների հարցերին՝ անդրադառնալով վերջերս «Ջումհուրիեթ» պարբերականի աշխատակիցներին ազատ արձակելու փաստին: Այս մասին տեղեկացնում է թուրքական «Հա բերլեր»-ը:

Լրագրողներից մեկը հարցրել է, թե ինչ է մտածում նախագահը Սահմանադրական դատարանի որոշման մասին, որով «Ջումհուրիեթ»-ի գլխավոր խմբագիր Ջան Դյունդարի ու Անկարայի թղթակից Էրդեմ Գյուլի կալանավորումը համարվել էր օրենքի խախտում, և լրագրողներն ազատ էին արձակվել: «Ես կլռեմ Սահմանադրական դատարանի կայացրած որոշման առնչությամբ, չեմ պատրաստվում այն ընդունել: Չեմ համաձայնվում այդ որոշման հետ, չեմ հարգում այն»,- ասել է Էրդողանը:

Թուրքիայի նախագահը խոսել է մամուլի ազատությունից՝ ասելով. «Կարծում եմ, որ մամուլի ազատությունն անսահման լինել չի կարող: Աշխարհի ոչ մի կետում նման ազատություն մամուլին չի տրվում: Չի կարող պատահել այնպես, որ լրատվամիջոցի ներկայացուցիչը վեր կենա և վիրավորի երկրի նախագահին կամ վարչապետին, իսկ մենք միայն դիտորդի կարգավիճակում մնանք»:

Թուրքիայում «Ջումհուրիեթ» (Cumhurriyet) թերթի գլխավոր խմբագիր Ջան Դյունդարին և այդ նույն թերթի Անկարայի թղթակից Էրդեմ Գյուլին ձերբակալել և կալանավորել էին «Իսլամական պետության» ահաբեկիչներին զենք մատակարարելու մասին նյութ հրապարակելու համար: Լրագրողներին մեղադրում են ահաբեկչական կազմակերպության մեջ ներգրավվածության և լրտեսության համար: Իրականում նյութում բացահայտում էր արվում այն մասին, որ Թուրքիայի ազգային հետախուզական ծառայությունը բեռնատարներով զենք է մատակարարում ԻՊ-ին:

Թուրքիայի սահմանադրական դատարանը, քննելով լրագրողներին կալանավորելու գործը, փետրվարի 25-ին վճռել է, որ այդպիսով խախտվել են երկրի մայր օրենքի դրույթները՝ կապված խոսքի ու մամուլի, մարդու ազատության ու անվտանգության հետ: Դատարանի որոշումից անմիջապես հետո լրագրողներն ազատ էին արձակվել:
