Իրանի զարգացումը չպետք է իրականացվի ի վնաս երկրի անկախության եւ ազգային արժանապատվության: Այդ մասին, փետրվարի 28-ին հայտարարել է Իսլամական Հանրապետության ղեկավար եւ հոգեւոր առաջնորդ այաթոլլա Ալի Խամենեին՝ մեջլիսի (խորհրդարանի) եւ Փորձագետների խորհրդի՝ փետրվարի 26-ին կայացած ընտրությունների կապակցությամբ իրանական ժողովրդին հղած ուղերձում:
«Զարգացումը պետության կարեւոր նպատակն է: Բայց ի վնաս անկախության եւ ազգային արժանապատվության զարգացումն անընդունելի է»,- ասված է Իրանի առաջնորդի ուղերձում, որը տարածվել է նրա վարչակազմի կողմից:
Այաթոլլա Ալի Խամենեին նաեւ ընդգծել է, որ «մեջլիսի նոր կազմի վրա մեծ պատասխանատվություն է դրվում՝ կապված իրանական ժողովրդի ակնկալիքների հետ»:
Միաժամանակ նա հորդորել է ընտրված թեկնածուներին, ինչպես նաեւ պաշտոնյաներին եւ իշխանության դատական թեւի ներկայացուցիչներին՝ «ազնվորեն կատարել իրենց պարտականությունները, վարել համեստ կենսակերպ, ազգային շահերը ամեն ինչից վեր դասել եւ թույլ չտալ օտարերկրյա միջամտություն պետության գործերին»:
Փետրվարի 26-ին Իրանում տեղի են ունեցել մեջլիսի 290 պատգամավորների, ինչպես նաեւ Փորձագետների խորհրդի 88 իրավագետների եւ աստվածաբանների ընտրությունները: Գրեթե 55 մլն ընտրողներից քվեարկությանը մասնակցել են շուրջ 33 մլն քաղաքացիներ, հաղորդել է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
