Երեխա սաղմնավորելու համար լավագույն դիրքերի թեմայով լուրջ գիտական ուսումնասիրություններ երբեք չեն կատարվել: Սակայն առողջ դատողությունը հուշում է, որ միսիոներական դիրքը (տղամարդը՝ վերեւից) լավագույն տարբերակն է, քանի որ սեռական օրգանն այդ ընթացքում ամենախորն է թափանցում, եւ սերմնահեղուկը հեշտությամբ հասնում է արգանդի վզիկին: Նրանց համար, ովքեր ցանկանում են երեխա սաղմնավորել, սիրով զբաղվելու ժամանակ կարելի է օգտագործել նաեւ «տղամարդը հետեւից» դիրքը, երբ կինը պառկած է փորին կամ կանգնած է ծնկա-արմունկային դիրքով. այդ կերպ նույնպես սերմնահեղուկը հասնում է նպատակին:

Փորձագետները խորհուրդ են տալիս հրաժարվել այնպիսի դիրքերից, երբ դուք նստած կամ կանգնած եք, ինչպես նաեւ հեծյալի դիրքից (կինը՝ վերեւից): Եթե դուք ընդունում եք ուղղահայաց դիրք, ապա երկրի ձգողականության ուժն ազդում է սերմնահեղուկի վրա, եւ նրան դժվար է շարժվել դեպի արգանդի փողերը:

Որոշ մասնագետներ կարծում են, որ երեխա սաղմնավորելու ձեր հնարավորությունները կմեծանան, եթե սեռական ակտից հետո կես ժամ պառկեք անկողնում, ցանկալի է՝ մեջքի վրա, կոնքերը՝ մի փոքր վեր, ոտքերը՝ բարձին դնելով: Տեսականորեն, դա սերմնահեղուկին պետք է օգնի շարժվել դեպի արգանդի փողերը՝ չպայքարելով երկրի ձգողականության ուժի դեմ: Սակայն այդ  պետք չէ անել, եթե միզապարկա-սեռային վարակ ունեք, եւ եթե բժիշկը խորհուրդ է տվել սեռական ակտից անմիջապես հետո դատարկել միզապարկը:
