Քաղաքականապես հասուն ազգերը երկու կարգավիճակ ունեն․ կա՛մ ունեն անկախ պետականություն, կա՛մ պայքարում են անկախ պետականության համար։

 Եթե ազգը այս երկու կարգավիճակներից որևէ մեկում չէ, նշանակում է՝ քաղաքականապես դեռ հասուն չէ և, որ ամենակարևորն է, չունի հասուն քաղաքական էլիտաներ։

 Փառք Աստծո, մենք այսօր ունենք սուվերեն, անկախ պետություն։ Բայց անկախություն ունենալը դեռ բավարար չէ։ Պետք է հասկանալ՝ ինչ է անկախությունը, ինչ է սուվերենությունը և ինչպես են դրանք պահպանվում։

Պատմության մեջ եղել են ազգեր, որոնք աշխարհաքաղաքական հանգամանքների բերումով անկախություն են ձեռք բերել, բայց չեն կարողացել այն պահպանել։ Կամ վերածվել են այլ պետությունների ձեռքում գործիքի՝ սեփական ժողովրդին զոհաբերելով օտար պետությունների ու աշխարհաքաղաքական բևեռների շահերին։

Այսօր, ցավոք, մենք հայտնվել ենք մի իրավիճակում, երբ վտանգված կարող են լինել մեր անկախությունն ու պետականությունը։

Հենց այդ պատճառով Հայաստանի քաղաքական էլիտաներն ու ժողովուրդը պարտավոր են դրսևորել բարձր քաղաքական հասունություն՝ պաշտպանելու սեփական պետականությունն ու ժողովրդի անվտանգությունը։
Միայն խոսելով և կենացներ խմելով՝ պետականություն չես կերտի և անկախություն չես պահպանի։ Դրա համար անհրաժեշտ են խորը քաղաքական գիտելիք, հասուն հասարակություն և պատասխանատու քաղաքական էլիտաներ։

Մենք պետք է հասկանանք՝ ինչ է կատարվում Հայաստանի շուրջ և Հայաստանի ներսում, ու կարողանանք ճիշտ գնահատել այն իրավիճակը, որում հայտնվել ենք։

Ժամանակն է սթափվելու և Հայաստանի պետական շահերից բխող որոշումներ կայացնելու։

Ազգերը ձգտում են անկախության, որպեսզի ունենան սեփական պետություն և իրենց ճակատագիրը տնօրինեն իրենք։ Բայց անկախությունը նաև պատասխանատվություն է։

 Երբ մեր իշխանությունները հայկական են, նրանք պետք է այնպես կառավարեն երկիրը և այնպես վերաբերվեն սեփական ժողովրդին, որ Հայաստանի քաղաքացին զգա ու հասկանա անկախ պետություն ունենալու արժեքը։ Որպեսզի ժողովուրդը երբեք չհիասթափվի իր անկախությունից և չմտածի․ «Ի՞նչ տարբերություն, եթե հայերն էլ մեզ հետ վարվում են այնպես, ինչպես ժամանակին վարվել են օտարները»։
Սիրելի՛ ժողովուրդ, անկախությունն ու պետականությունը մեր ամենաթանկ արժեքներն են։

 Ես, օրինակ, ինձ համար ամենաթանկ և կարևոր գործերից մեկը համարում եմ այն, որ կարողանամ իմ որդուն ժառանգել հարատևող Հայաստանի անձնագիր։ Դա, երևի թե, կլինի իմ կյանքի ամենամեծ գործը։
Կարծում եմ՝ յուրաքանչյուր հայ պետք է այդ պատասխանատվությունը զգա։
