«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է.

Լողը որպես սպորտաձև ի հայտ է եկել դեռ հին ժամանակներում։ Հունաստանում կանայք և աղջիկները, ովքեր լոտոս էին հավաքում գետի վրա, ցույց էին տալիս զարմանալի շնորհք. նրանք կարող էին զամբյուղը պահել իրենց ձեռքերում և շարժվել ջրի միջով միայն իրենց ոտքերի օգնությամբ, ընդ որում՝ դա երբեմն անում էին խմբով ու սինխրոն կերպով: Հին հույն պատմաբան Հերոդոտոսը նշել է, որ ինքը տեսել է մի աղջկա, որն այնքան հանգիստ էր զգում իրեն ջրի մեջ, որ դարձել էր ծովի աստծո սիրելին:

Այնուամենայնիվ, չնայած լողի հին լինելուն, սինխրոն լողի համար 19-րդ դարն է որոշիչ եղել: Այդ ժամանակ է այն առանձնացվել որպես առանձին սպորտաձև։ Ճիշտ է, սկզբում կանայք չէին մասնակցում սինխրոն լողի մրցույթներին։ Այն ժամանակ այն կոչվում էր ջրային բալետ, և միայն հետո է Կանադայում հայտնվել այդ սպորտաձևի՝ մեզ համար սովորական անվանումը՝ սինխրոն լող։ Անկարևոր չէ նշել, որ օլիմպիական չեմպիոն Նորման Ռոսն է առաջին անգամ օգտագործել «սինխրոն լող» տերմինը։

Սինխրոն լողի առաջին մրցումները տեղի են ունեցել 1891 թվականին Բեռլինում, ապա՝ 1892 թվականին Լոնդոնում։ Սկզբում բոլոր լողորդները տղամարդիկ էին, նրանք ստեղծում էին ֆիգուրներ ջրի վրա և պարում էին շրջանաձև՝ շրջապատված ծաղկեպսակներով և լապտերներով: Նոր սպորտաձևի մասսայականացման խթան է հանդիսացել ավստրալացի լողորդուհի Անետ Քելլերմանի շոուն։ Նրա շոուները չափազանց տարածված էին և մեծապես նպաստել են այդ նոր սպորտաձևի առաջացմանը:

Սինխրոն լողի հետագա զարգացումը կապված է Քեթրին Քերտիսի հետ։ Նա առաջինն էր, ով որոշեց ջրի մեջ ակրոբատիկ գործողություններ կատարել երաժշտության ներքո: 1933–1934 թվականներին նրա ուսանողները ելույթ են ունեցել Չիկագոյում անցկացվող «Պրոգրես» համաշխարհային ցուցահանդեսում։ 1952 թվականին էլ սինխրոն լողը ստացել է պաշտոնական միջազգային ճանաչում և իր ժամանակակից անվանումը։ Այդ թվականին Ֆրանսիայի առաջնությունում է օգտագործվել նախկինում չօգտագործված երաժշտական նվագակցությունը:

1948 թվականին էլ սինխրոն լողն առաջին անգամ ներկայացվել է Օլիմպիական խաղերում որպես ցուցադրական մարզաձև, և գրեթե 40 տարի անց էլ՝ Լոս Անջելեսում 1984 թվականին, այն հանդես է եկել որպես հիմնական մարզաձև։ Մեդալային ծրագրում մարզիկները մրցել են մենախաղի և զուգախաղի մրցանակների համար։ Հետո՝ 1996 թվականին, Ատլանտայում մենախաղի և զուգախաղի մրցումները փոխարինվել են թիմային մրցումներով։

2017 թվականի հուլիսին Լողի միջազգային ֆեդերացիան սինխրոն լողը պաշտոնապես վերանվանել է գեղարվեստական լողի։ Չնայած դրան, հիմա էլ դեռ ընդունված է այդ սպորտաձևն անվանել սինխրոն լող։
