Forbes Woman-ը բացառիկ հարցազրույց է հրապարակել Ռուբեն Վարդանյանի կնոջ՝ Վերոնիկա Զոնաբենդի հետ: 

Ստորև ներկայացնում ենք մի քանի հատված հարցազրույցից:

— Ռուբենի ձերբակալությունից հետո, քանի դեռ այնտեղ Կարմիր խաչն էր, նրանք ամիսը մեկ անգամ այցելում էին կալանավորներին և տեսագրություն էին անում։ Այսինքն՝ երեքշաբաթյա ընդմիջումով հնարավոր էր Ռուբենին տեսնել տեսանյութով։ Եվ մենք կարող էինք նրա համար հաղորդագրություններ ձայնագրել։ Ավելի քան մեկ տարի տեսազանգ չկա։ Միայն վերջերս ինձ հաջողվեց փաստաբանի միջոցով փոխանցել մեր թոռնուհիների լուսանկարները, որոնք ծնվել են Ռուբենի կալանքի ընթացքում։ Մեր ավագ թոռնուհին արդեն երկու տարեկան է, իսկ կրտսերը երեք ամսական կդառնա։

— Կանանց միջազգային հումանիտար պատվիրակության նպատակը բացառապես հումանիտար է՝ հանդիպել Ադրբեջանի Հանրապետության օմբուդսմենին, այցելել Ադրբեջանում պահվող Հայաստանի քաղաքացիներին, նրանց փոխանցել հարազատների նամակները, լուսանկարներն ու թույլատրված անձնական իրերը։

— Բաքու մեկնելու իմ կոչին արդեն արձագանքել են պոտենցիալ բազմաթիվ մասնակիցներ։ Բայց բոլորը հարցնում են անվտանգության մասին։ Դատելով նրանից, թե ինչպես էին Ադրբեջանում ընթանում դատավարությունները և ինչում էին մեղադրում գերիներին, կարող են ձերբակալել ցանկացած մարդու, ով երբևէ այցելել է Լեռնային Ղարաբաղ։ Դատավարությունների ընթացքում մեղադրանքներից մեկը սահմանն ապօրինի հատելն էր։

— Ադրբեջանական կողմի համար մեր պատվիրակության այցը իրական բարի կամք ցույց տալու հնարավորություն է այս՝ խաղաղության պայմանագրի ստորագրման շուրջ քննարկումների շրջանում։ Չէ՞ որ ես խնդրում եմ ամենապարզ բանը՝ թույլ տալ հանդիպել հարազատներին, փոխանցել անհրաժեշտ իրերով ծանրոցներ, նամակներ և լուսանկարներ։
