Վատիկանը «լուրջ մտահոգություն» է հայտնել Իսրայելի և Լիբանանի միջև ԱՄՆ միջնորդությամբ ձեռք բերված համաձայնության իրականացման հետ կապված խնդիրների վերաբերյալ։ Այս մասին հայտարարվել է Հռոմի Պապ Լևոն 14-րդի և Լիբանանի նախագահ Ժոզեֆ Աունի հանդիպումից հետո։
«Սուրբ Աթոռը, ողջունելով փաստաթղթի ստորագրումը, լուրջ մտահոգություն է հայտնել դրա իրականացման ընթացքում առաջացած դժվարությունների կապակցությամբ և խոստացել է աջակցել այդ ուղղությամբ գործադրվող ջանքերին», - ասված է Վատիկանի հայտարարությունում։
Հունիսի վերջին Միացյալ Նահանգների միջնորդությամբ Իսրայելն ու Լիբանանը Վաշինգտոնում ստորագրել են հրադադարի և խաղաղության ուղու վերաբերյալ շրջանակային համաձայնագիր։ Դրան նախորդել էին հրադադարի մեխանիզմների շուրջ բանակցությունները, որոնց առանցքային պայմաններից էր «Հեզբոլա»-ի՝ Լիտանի գետից հարավ գտնվող տարածքներից դուրս գալը։ Սակայն համաձայնագրի իրականացումը շարունակում է ուղեկցվել խնդիրներով։
