ԱՄՆ-ի Ատլանտա քաղաքում ոստիկանությունը ձերբակալել է 21-ամյա Սալիմ Մարտինին, որը, ըստ քննության, առևանգել էր մեքենա, որի ներսում գտնվել է երկու տարեկան երեխա։ 

Նախնական տվյալներով՝ փոքրիկի մայրը կարճ ժամանակով դուրս էր եկել գործերով՝ աղջկան թողնելով գործարկված շարժիչով մեքենայում։ Մոտ չորս րոպե անց վերադառնալով՝ նա հայտնաբերել էր, որ մեքենան անհետացել է, և անմիջապես զանգահարել էր արտակարգ ծառայություն։

Իրավապահներին հաջողվել է մոտ 15 րոպե անց հայտնաբերել մեքենան և կասկածյալին։ Ըստ ոստիկանության՝ երիտասարդը գտնվել է մեքենայի հետևի նստատեղում՝ լացող երեխայի կողքին։

Երբ աղջկան վերադարձրել են մորը, վերջինս նկատել է, որ երեխայի զգեստը բացված է եղել։ Ըստ հաղորդագրության՝ փոքրիկը հայտնել է, որ դա արել է տղամարդը։ Դեպքի բոլոր հանգամանքները ներկայումս քննվում են։

Ձերբակալությունից հետո Սալիմ Մարտինը հայտարարել է, որ մեքենան վերցրել է՝ տուն հասնելու նպատակով։ Նրա խոսքով՝ սկզբում չի նկատել, որ մեքենայում երեխա կա, սակայն տեսնելով ներսում գտնվող iPad-ը՝ այն դուրս է նետել՝ հետքերից ազատվելու համար։ Նա նաև պնդել է, որ կանգ է առել, քանի որ երեխան սկսել է բարձրաձայն լացել, իսկ իրեն դիպել է միայն նրան հանգստացնելու նպատակով։

Տղամարդուն առաջադրվել են մի շարք մեղադրանքներ։ Նրա գործով դատական առաջին լսումը նախատեսված է օգոստոսի վերջին։
