Ալերգիայի դեմ օգտագործվող դեղամիջոցները միլիոնավոր մարդկանց օգնում են թեթևացնել քորը, փռշտոցը, արցունքահոսությունն ու այլ ախտանիշները։ Սակայն մասնագետները զգուշացնում են, որ որոշ դեպքերում նույնիսկ լայնորեն կիրառվող հակաալերգիկ դեղերը կարող են լուրջ, իսկ հազվադեպ՝ նույնիսկ կյանքին սպառնացող բարդություններ առաջացնել։

Ամենամեծ վտանգներից մեկը անաֆիլաքսիան է՝ սուր ալերգիկ ռեակցիա, որը կարող է զարգանալ ոչ միայն սննդից կամ միջատների խայթոցից, այլև որոշ դեղամիջոցներից, այդ թվում՝ ալերգիայի բուժման ընթացքում կիրառվող որոշ միջոցներից։ Չնայած նման դեպքերը հազվադեպ են, դրանք պահանջում են անհապաղ բժշկական օգնություն։

Բացի այդ, առաջին սերնդի հակահիստամինային դեղամիջոցները, օրինակ՝ դիֆենհիդրամինը (Diphenhydramine) կամ քլորոպիրամինը (Chloropyramine), կարող են առաջացնել ուժեղ քնկոտություն, գլխապտույտ, ուշադրության նվազում և ռեակցիայի դանդաղում։ Այդ պատճառով դրանց ընդունումից հետո խորհուրդ չի տրվում վարել ավտոմեքենա կամ աշխատել վտանգավոր սարքավորումների հետ։

Հատկապես զգույշ պետք է լինեն տարեց մարդիկ, սրտանոթային հիվանդություններ ունեցողները, ինչպես նաև նրանք, ովքեր միաժամանակ ընդունում են այլ դեղամիջոցներ։ Որոշ հակահիստամինային միջոցներ կարող են փոխազդել այլ դեղերի հետ՝ մեծացնելով սրտի ռիթմի խանգարումների կամ այլ բարդությունների վտանգը։

Մասնագետները նաև զգուշացնում են, որ դեղամիջոցի չափաբաժնի ինքնակամ ավելացումը կամ տարբեր հակաալերգիկ միջոցների համատեղ օգտագործումը առանց բժշկի խորհրդի կարող է հանգեցնել ծանր թունավորման։ Ծայրահեղ դեպքերում չափից մեծ դոզան կարող է առաջացնել ցնցումներ, գիտակցության կորուստ, շնչառության խանգարում և նույնիսկ մահ։

Եթե դեղամիջոց ընդունելուց հետո առաջանում են շնչահեղձություն, դեմքի կամ կոկորդի այտուց, ուժեղ թուլություն, գիտակցության խանգարում կամ սրտի արագ բաբախ, անհրաժեշտ է անհապաղ զանգահարել շտապ օգնություն։

 Past.am-ը հիշեցնում է, որ նույնիսկ առանց դեղատոմսի վաճառվող հակաալերգիկ դեղամիջոցները պետք է օգտագործվեն միայն ցուցումներին համապատասխան կամ բժշկի խորհրդով։ Ինքնաբուժումը կարող է վտանգավոր լինել, հատկապես եթե առկա են քրոնիկական հիվանդություններ կամ միաժամանակ ընդունվում են այլ դեղեր։
