Վիրուսների դեմ պայքարում գիտնականները հերթական կարևոր քայլն են կատարել։ Ավստրալիայի հետազոտողները մշակել են նոր տեսակի բարակ պլաստիկ թաղանթ, որը կարող է վնասազերծել վիրուսները՝ առանց քիմիական ախտահանիչ նյութերի օգտագործման, Past.am-ն անդրադարձել է մեծ քննարկում առաջացրած այս թեմային:
Նոր նյութի առանձնահատկությունն այն է, որ այն չի ոչնչացնում վիրուսները քիմիական ռեակցիայի միջոցով։ Դրա մակերեսը պատված է նանոմաշտաբի փոքրիկ ելուստներով, որոնք շփման պահին մեխանիկորեն վնասում են վիրուսի արտաքին թաղանթը։ Լաբորատոր փորձերի ընթացքում պարզվել է, որ նման մակերեսը մեկ ժամվա ընթացքում վնասազերծել է ուսումնասիրված վիրուսային մասնիկների շուրջ 94 տոկոսը։
Հետազոտության հեղինակների խոսքով՝ այս տեխնոլոգիան կարող է կիրառվել հիվանդանոցներում, հասարակական վայրերում, տրանսպորտում, ինչպես նաև հեռախոսների, համակարգիչների, դռների բռնակների և այլ հաճախակի օգտագործվող մակերեսների վրա։ Քանի որ նյութը չի պարունակում քիմիական ախտահանիչներ, այն կարող է երկար ժամանակ պահպանել իր հատկությունները՝ առանց մշտական վերամշակման անհրաժեշտության։
Մասնագետները, սակայն, ընդգծում են, որ առայժմ խոսքը լաբորատոր հետազոտությունների արդյունքների մասին է։ Նախքան տեխնոլոգիան լայն կիրառություն գտնի, անհրաժեշտ են լրացուցիչ փորձարկումներ՝ տարբեր տեսակի վիրուսների և իրական պայմաններում դրա արդյունավետությունը գնահատելու համար։
Եթե հետագա ուսումնասիրությունները նույնպես հաջող արդյունքներ ցույց տան, նոր նյութը կարող է դառնալ վիրուսների տարածումը նվազեցնելու կարևոր միջոցներից մեկը՝ հատկապես այն վայրերում, որտեղ մարդիկ հաճախ են շփվում ընդհանուր մակերեսների հետ։ Այն կարող է լրացնել արդեն կիրառվող հիգիենիկ միջոցները, սակայն չի փոխարինում ձեռքերի լվացմանը, օդափոխությանը կամ պատվաստումներին, երբ դրանք խորհուրդ են տրվում։
