Վաշինգտոնի ծրագրերը չինական ծրագրից առաջ են ընդամենը մի քանի ամսով, CBS-ին տված հարցազրույցում հայտարարել է ԱՄՆ տիեզերական գործակալության ղեկավար Ջարեդ Այզեկմանը։ Այժմ Պեկինը կողմնորոշվում է դեպի հնարավոր վայրէջք մոտ 2029 թվականին, մինչդեռ Վաշինգտոնը խոսում է 2028-ի վերջի մասին։
Այզեկմանի կարծիքով՝ Չինաստանն, ամենայն հավանականությամբ, ի վիճակի է իր տայկոնավտներին Լուսին իջեցնել ավելի վաղ, քան ԱՄՆ-ը կվերադարձնի այնտեղ աստղագնացներին Artemis ծրագրի շրջանակում, գրում է գերմանական DW պարբերականը։ Միաժամանակ, NASA-ի ղեկավարն ընդգծել է, որ խոսքն արդեն ոչ թե սոսկ մեկանգամյա առաքելությունների, այլ երկարաժամկետ ներկայության և լուսնային ենթակառուցվածքների ստեղծման ձգտման մասին է։
Ընդսմին, NASA-ում վստահ են, որ ԱՄՆ-ը պահպանում է տեխնոլոգիական և կազմակերպչական առավելությունը. արդեն պատրաստվում է լուսնային ենթակառուցվածքների փուլային տեղակայումը, իսկ բազայի առաջին տարրերի գործարկումը նախատեսվում է սկսել 2027 թվականից։ Հետագայում գործակալությունն ակնկալում է անցնել Լուսնի վրա անձնակազմերի մշտական ներկայությանը և ժամանակի ընթացքում այն օգտագործել որպես հենադաշտ դեպի Մարս առաքելությունների համար։
Միաժամանակ, շատ փորձագետներ մատնանշում են նախագծի կախվածությունը մասնավոր կապալառուներից և տեխնիկական բարդությունները, ներառյալ սկաֆանդրների ու վայրէջքային համակարգերի մշակումը։ Նման պայմաններում լուսնային մրցավազքն ավելի ու ավելի ոչ միայն տեխնոլոգիաների մրցակցության է նմանվում, այլև փորձության, թե ով կկարողանա իրականացնել իր ծրագրերը հայտարարված ժամկետներում։
