BBC News-ի հաղորդմամբ, Վենեսուելայում ավերված շենքերի փլատակների տակից փրկվել են երկու 11-ամյա տղաներ, որոնց դուրս են բերել մի քանի ժամ տարբերությամբ՝ չորեքշաբթի օրը երկրի վրա հարվածած 7,2 և 7,5 մագնիտուդով հզոր երկրաշարժերից հետո։
Առաջին երեխան՝ Մոիսես անունով, հայտնաբերվել է մոտ երեք մետր խորությամբ փլատակների շերտի տակ։ Նրան դուրս բերելու գործողությունը տևել է մոտ վեց ժամ և փրկարարներից պահանջել է բարձր ճշգրտությամբ աշխատանք՝ կառույցների անկայունության պատճառով։ Փրկարար ծառայությունների տվյալներով, տղան գտնվել է զոհված մոր և քրոջ կողքին։
Մի քանի ժամ անց իշխանությունները հայտնել են Կարաբայեդա քաղաքում ևս մեկ 11-ամյա տղայի փրկության մասին։ Նրան փլատակների տակից դուրս են բերել պատգարակով և տեղափոխել անվտանգ վայր։ Երկու դեպքերն էլ դարձել են հույսի հազվադեպ պահեր լայնածավալ աղետի ֆոնին։
Պաշտոնական տվյալներով, երկրաշարժերի հետևանքով զոհվել է առնվազն 1 430 մարդ, իսկ տասնյակ հազարավոր բնակիչներ շարունակում են անհետ կորած համարվել։ Տարերքը հանգեցրել է հարյուրավոր շենքերի փլուզման և ենթակառուցվածքների լուրջ ավերածությունների առափնյա և լեռնային շրջաններում։
Փրկարարական աշխատանքները շարունակվում են բարդ պայմաններում. գործողությունները դժվարացնում են կրկնակի ստորգետնյա ցնցումները, անկայուն կառույցները և ծանր տեխնիկայի սահմանափակ հասանելիությունը։ Մի շարք շրջաններում տեղի բնակիչներն ինքնուրույն ապամոնտաժում են փլատակները՝ նշելով, որ փշրված բեկորների տակից մարդկանց ձայներ են լսում։
Տուժած շրջաններում բացվել են ժամանակավոր տեղավորման կետեր, դաշտային հոսպիտալներ և հումանիտար օգնության բաշխման կենտրոններ։ Որոնողափրկարարական աշխատանքներին մասնակցում են մի քանի երկրների միջազգային թիմեր, այդ թվում՝ Մեքսիկայից, Իսպանիայից, Կատարից, ԱՄՆ-ից և Մեծ Բրիտանիայից, ներգրավված են նաև մասնագիտացված ստորաբաժանումներ և որոնող շներ։
