Չինացի հետազոտողների մի խումբ ստեղծել է անսովոր նյութ հիմնված Կենտրոնական և Հարավային Ամերիկայի բնիկ թեթև արևադարձային ծառի՝ օխրոմայի փայտի վրա։ Նանոմասնիկների մշակումից հետո այն կարող է կլանել արևի լույսը, կուտակել ջերմություն և էլեկտրաէներգիա արտադրել նույնիսկ մթնշաղից հետո, գրում է lifehacker.ru–ն։
Գիտնականները օգտագործել են փայտի բնական կառուցվածքը իր հարթ միկրոալիքներով։ Նախ, նրանք հեռացրել են լիգնինը, ինչը նյութը դարձրել է ավելի քան 93% ծակոտկեն։ Այնուհետև, ալիքների պատերը պատվել են սև ֆոսֆորենի գերբարակ թերթերով, որը նյութ է, որը արդյունավետորեն կլանում է լույսը և վերածում այն ջերմության։ Ֆոսֆորենի քայքայումը կանխելու համար այն պաշտպանվել է թաննաթթվի և երկաթի իոնների շերտով։
Արծաթե նանոմասնիկներ են ավելացվել լույսի կլանումը բարելավելու համար, իսկ նյութը անձրևից պաշտպանելու համար մակերեսը դարձել է գերհիդրոֆոբ՝ ջուրը պարզապես գլորվում է դրանից։ Ներքին խողովակները լցվել են ստեարինաթթուով՝ էկոլոգիապես մաքուր նյութով, որը տաքացնելիս հալվում է, իսկ սառեցնելիս ջերմություն է արձակում։
Օրվա ընթացքում արևը հալեցնում է ստեարինաթթուն, իսկ գիշերը այն սառչում է ստեղծելով ջերմաստիճանային տարբերություն, որը թույլ է տալիս շարունակել էլեկտրաէներգիայի արտադրությունը նույնիսկ լիակատար մթության մեջ։ Արդյունքում, կառուցվածքը կարող է կուտակել մոտավորապես 175 կՋ ջերմություն մեկ կիլոգրամի համար և արևի լույսի ավելի քան 91%-ը վերածել օգտակար ջերմության։ Սա մոտավորապես այնքան էներգիա է, որքան պահանջվում է կես լիտր ջուր եռացնելու համար, այսինքն տպավորիչ ցուցանիշ է նման թեթև նյութի համար։
Վերամշակված փայտը դիմացել է 100 աստիճան տաքացման և սառեցման ցիկլերի առանց նկատելի քայքայման, ապացուցել է իր հրակայունությունը (ինքնամարվում է երկու րոպեից պակաս ժամանակում) և դիմացկուն է մանրէների և աղտոտիչների նկատմամբ։
Զարգացումը առաջարկվում է օգտագործել էլեկտրոնիկայի սառեցման, շենքերի էներգաարդյունավետության բարելավման կամ ինքնավար էներգիայի աղբյուրներ ստեղծելու համար։ Այնուամենայնիվ, գիտնականները ընդունում են, որ նման բարդ բազմաշերտ կառուցվածքը լաբորատորիայից զանգվածային արտադրության տեղափոխելը դժվար կլինի։
