Հայաստանի վարչապետի պաշտոնը զբաղեցնող Նիկոլ Փաշինյանն իր էմոցիոնալ պոռթկումներին զուգահեռ նաև չափազանց վտանգավոր հայտարարություններ է անում։ Մասնավորապես, երեկ Լոռու մարզում կայացած հանդիպումների ժամանակ հայտարարել է, թե երբևէ չի եղել, որ ներկայիս Հայաստանի բնակչության 90 տոկոսից ավելին հայեր լինեն։ Փաշինյանն, իհարկե, չի նշում, որ հենց այս պահին Հայաստանի բնակչության 98․1 տոկոսը կազմում են ազգությամբ հայերը։ 1979 թվականի մարդահամարի տվյալներով՝ հայերը կազմել են Հայաստանի բնակչության 89․7 %-ը։ 2-րդ տեղում ադրբեջանցիներն էին՝ 5․3 տոկոս։

Հաջորդում էին ռուսները, քրդերը, եզդիները, ուկրաինացիները, հույները և ասորիները, որոնք բավական փոքր թիվ էին կազմում։ Ըստ էության, Փաշինյանի այս հայտարարությունը ընդամենը մեկ նպատակ ունի՝ հող նախապատրաստել ադրբեջանցիների վերադարձի համար։ Ուստի զարմանալի չէ, որ գործող իշխանության պարագլխի այս հայտարարությունը հնչում է հենց այն նույն պահին, երբ Ադրբեջանի նախագահի ավագ օգնական Հիքմեթ Հաջիևը, ելույթ ունենալով Բաքվում ընթացող WUF13 միջազգային համաժողովի ընթացքում, պնդել է, որ անկախության առաջին տարիներին Ադրբեջանը բախվել է «Հայաստանից արտաքսված 300 հազար էթնիկ ադրբեջանցիների» տեղավորման խնդրին։ Խորհրդային մարդահամարների տվյալներով, սակայն, Խորհրդային Հայաստանում բնակվող ադրբեջանցիների թիվը երբեք չի գերազանցել 200 հազարը։

1979 թվականի մարդահամարի տվյալներով՝ Հայկական ԽՍՀ-ում բնակվում էր 160 հազար, իսկ 1989 թվականի մարդահամարի տվյալներով՝ 84 հազար ադրբեջանցի։ Փոխարենը Ադրբեջանի տարածքում, ըստ որոշ գնահատականների, 300-400 հազար հայ է բնակվել, դա էլ չհաշված Լեռնային Ղարաբաղում բնակվողների թիվը, և սումգայիթյան ջարդերից հետո 100 հազարավոր հայեր պարզապես տեղահանվել են Ադրբեջանից։ Փաշինյանական իշխանությունը այդ մասին, բնականաբար, մոռանում է, բայց և տողատակերով փորձում հայ ժողովրդի մեջ ներարկել ադրբեջանցիների վերադարձի անհրաժեշտությունը։ Սա հենց այն է, ինչի մասին զգուշացնում է «Ուժեղ Հայաստան» կուսակցության առաջնորդ, գործարար, բարերար Սամվել Կարապետյանը։
