Երևանում երեկ կայացած Եվրոպական քաղաքական համայնքի գագաթնաժողովը, ինչպես և սպասելի էր, ավելի շատ Ուկրաինայի, քան Հայաստանի մասին էր։ Ելույթ ունեցող եվրոպական պաշտոնյաներն ու առաջնորդները 1-2 բառով անդրադառնում էին Հայաստանին, ապա իրենց ողջ խոսքը ուղղում Ուկրաինային, իսկ հակառուսականությունը պարզապես ծփում էր այդ գագաթնաժողովից։ Ավելին, Փաշինյանն ինքն էլ հանդիպում է ունեցել Վլադիմիր Զելենսկու հետ, ըստ պաշտոնական հաղորդագրության՝ քննարկել են Հայաստան–Ուկրաինա երկկողմ փոխգործակցության զարգացման հեռանկարները։ «Կարևոր է, որ մենք վերսկսենք մեր երկրների միջև ակտիվ երկխոսությունը»,– գրել էր Զելենսկին՝ նշելով, որ Փաշինյանի հետ խոսել են նաև տնտեսական գործընկերության զարգացման մասին։

Ուշագրավ մեկ այլ հանգամանք․ Ուկրաինայի վերաբերյալ առանձին կետ կա նաև Հայաստան–Եվրամիություն գագաթնաժողովի համատեղ հայտարարության նախագծում, թեև հայկական կողմը կարող էր փոքր–ինչ նրբանկատություն դրսևորել և այս մի գագաթնաժողովի հայտարարությունից հանել Ուկրաինայի վերաբերյալ հատվածը։ Բնական է, որ նման գագաթնաժողովի անցկացումը և հակառուսական նարատիվների տարածումը պետք է լրջորեն մտահոգեր ռուսական կողմին։ Ռուսական հեռուստաընկերության եթերում քննադատություն է հնչել, ընդ որում՝ հատկապես ընդգծել են, որ համատեղ հանդիպմանը Փաշինյանն ու Զելենսկին զրուցել են անգլերեն, թեև երկուսն էլ հրաշալի տիրապետում են ռուսերենին։

Ռուսաստանի Անվտանգության խորհրդի փոխնախագահ Դմիտրի Մեդվեդևը առանց անուններ նշելու գրել է․ «Երևանում երկու անուղեղ ռուսաֆոբներ, որոնք գերազանց խոսում են ռուսերեն, վատ անգլերեն են խոսել իրենց թերարժեքության պատճառով։ Չնայած հնարավոր է, որ սա եղել է տեսախցիկի առջև, իսկ հետո նրանք զրուցել են իրենց ծանոթ, հիանալի և հզոր լեզվով։ Պակասում են միայն Թրամփն ու Վենսը, որպեսզի տգետներին անգլերենով խոսելու հնարավորություն տան»։ Ռուսական կողմի արձագանքը շուտով ավելի կոշտ և ծանր կհնչի։ Եվ սա, բնականաբար, հասկանում են թե Եվրոպայում, թե Հայաստանում։ Եթե Եվրոպայի մասով ամեն ինչ հասկանալի է՝ նրանք պարզ և բաց դիմակայության մեջ են Ռուսաստանի հետ, ապա Հայաստանի իշխանությունների վարքը պարզապես որևէ ողջամիտ տրամաբանության չի ենթարկվում։
