Էդմոն Մարուքյանը տելեգրամյան իր ալիքում գրում է.

Պետրոսը պնդում է, թե Կարսը, Սուրմալուն, Արարատ լեռը ռուսներն են Մոսկվայի և Կարսի պայմանագրերով հանձնել թուրքերին։ Առաջին հայացքից, կարծես թե, ճիշտ է ասում, քանի որ իսկապես հայկական այդ տարածքների օտարումը վերջնականապես արձանագրվել է այդ փաստաթղթերով։

Բայց Պետրոսը բաց է թողնում փոքրիկ մի նյուանս։ Մինչև Մոսկվայի և Կարսի պայմանագրերի ստորագրումը ո՞ր երկրի զորքերն էին զբաղեցնում և վերահսկում այս տարածքները։ Իհարկե՝ Քեմալական Թուրքիայի։ Ավելին՝ այդ նույն թուրքական զորքերը զբաղեցնում էին նաև Ալեքսանդրապոլը (Գյումրին) և չէին պատրաստվում հեռանալ։ Ու չէին հեռանա, եթե չլինեին բոլշևիկների վերջնագրերը։

Բնականաբար Պետրոսն այս ամենը բաց է թողնում։ Այս տեղեկությունը ձեռնտու չէ։ Եվ տպավորություն է ստեղծվում, թե Կարսը, Նախիջևանը, Սուրմալուն Հայաստանի կազմում էին և վերահսկվում հայ զինվորների կողմից, բայց դավաճան ռուսները եկան, հայ զինվորներին դուրս մղեցին և տարածքները նվիրեցին թուրքերին։

Հայկական միջավայրում ի հայտ եկած այս մարտնչող և ագրեսիվ ստերը հարյուր տարի մեր քաղաքական միտքը գերության և ստրկության մեջ են պահել։ Մենք չենք կարողացել իմաստավորել հայ-թուրքական պատերազմում պարտության պատճառներն ու համապատասխան դասեր քաղել։ Ընդհակառակը ինքներս մեզ կերակրել ենք թշվառ միֆերով, խնդիրները հեռացրել ենք մեզնից՝ պատասխանատվության ողջ բեռը բարդելով մեծ տերությունների վրա։ Հատկապես՝ Ռուսաստանի և Մեծ Բրիտանիայի։ Վախեցել ենք խոստովանել, որ անառիկ միջնադարյան բերդաքաղաքը՝ Կարսը, հանձնել են հայերը առանց լուրջ դիմադրության։ Վախեցել ենք խոստովանել, որ չենք կարողացել վերահսկողություն սահմանել անգլիացիների նվիրած Նախիջևանի վրա։

Բնականաբար այսպես հեշտ է ապրել, առանց ինտելեկտուալ ջանքի և ինքնահայեցողության։ Հեշտ է ասել, Կարսը հանձնեցին ռուսները և այս տխմար մտածողությամբ հասնել 21-րդ դար ու նույն թշվառ, ինֆանտիլ պատճառաբանությամբ արդարացնել Արցախի կորուստը։

Այսպես հեշտ է ապրել, իշխանություն վերաարտադրել ու մարդկանց առաջնորդել մի նոր աղետի։ Աղետ, որի պատասխանատվությունը նորից կթողնվի կա՛մ Ռուսաստանի կա՛մ էլ ԱՄՆ-ի վրա։ Եվ միշտ կգտնվեն Պետրոսներ, որոնք սիրով կլեգիտիմացնեն այս մեծ սուտը։

Պետրոս, կյանքը, պատմությունը, քաղաքականությունը շատ ավելի բարդ են, քան մենք պատկերացնում ենք...
