Պահածոյացված սնունդը կարող է օգտակար լինել առողջության համար, պարզել են ԱՄՆ-ից հետազոտողները: Սակայն պահածոների սիրահարները նաեւ ավելի շատ կալորիաներ եւ շաքար են կլանում:
Կալիֆորնիայից հետազոտողները վերլուծել են 10 տարվա ընթացքում 42 000 ամերիկացի երեխայի եւ մեծահասակի վերաբերյալ հավաքված տեղեկություններ:
Նրանք մարդու սննդի ընդհանուր որակը գնահատել են պահածոյացված մրգեր եւ բանջարեղեն օգտագործելու հիմքի վրա, ինչպես նաեւ ամբողջական հատիկներից մթերքների, կաթի, ծովամթերքի, աղի սահմանափակ քանակության, շաքարի եւ այսպես կոչված «դատարկ կալորիաների»: Պարզվել է, որ պահածոյացված բանջարեղեն եւ միրգ սպառող չափահասների սննդի որակը 0-ից 100 սանդղակով 49-ի էր հավասար համեմատած իրենց հասակակիցների 47,4 միավորի հետ, որոնք ընդհանրապես պահածոներ չէին օգտագործում:
Երեխաների սննդի մեջ պահածոների կանոնավոր ներառումը հնարավորություն է տվել սննդի որակը հասցնել մինչեւ 45,8 միավորի: Պահածոների բացակայությունն այդ ցուցանիշն իջեցնում էր մինչեւ 43,3 միավորի:
Պարզվել է, որ պահածոների սիրահարները որոշակի սննդանյութի ավելի մեծ քանակություն էին օգտագործում, բայց նաեւ` ավելի շատ կալորիաներ, շաքար, ճարպ, ինչպես հաղորդվում է Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics ամսագրում հրապարակված հետազոտությունում:
