Երբ խոսքը գնում է վտանգավոր կենդանիների մասին, շատերը պատկերացնում են օձեր կամ գիշատիչ կաթնասուններ։ Սակայն աշխարհում կա մի արարած, որը համատեղում է հսկայական չափերը, ուժը և թունավոր խայթը․ դա Կոմոդո վիշապն է՝ մոլորակի ամենամեծ մողեսը։
Կոմոդո վիշապը կարող է հասնել մինչև 3 մետր երկարության և կշռել ավելի քան 70 կիլոգրամ։ Այն ապրում է հիմնականում Ինդոնեզիայի մի քանի կղզիներում և համարվում է այդ տարածքների գլխավոր գիշատիչը։
Չնայած իր ծանրակշիռ տեսքին՝ այս կենդանին բավական արագաշարժ է և կարող է կարճ տարածությունների վրա զարգացնել մեծ արագություն։
Երկար ժամանակ կարծում էին, որ Կոմոդո վիշապի վտանգը պայմանավորված է նրա բերանի մեջ առկա բակտերիաներով։ Սակայն հետազոտությունները ցույց են տվել, որ այն իրականում ունի թունավոր գեղձեր։
Կծելուց հետո թույնը խանգարում է արյան մակարդմանը և առաջացնում ուժեղ արյունահոսություն, ինչի հետևանքով որսը ժամանակի ընթացքում թուլանում է։
Կոմոդո վիշապը հաճախ չի հարձակվում անմիջապես։ Այն կարող է կծել կենդանուն և հետո հետևել նրան՝ սպասելով, մինչև թույնը գործի իր ազդեցությունը։
Այս ռազմավարությունը դարձնում է նրան չափազանց արդյունավետ գիշատիչ։
Թեև մարդկանց վրա հարձակումները հազվադեպ են, դրանք բացառված չեն։ Կոմոդո վիշապը կարող է վտանգ ներկայացնել, հատկապես եթե իրեն վտանգված զգա կամ սոված լինի։
Այդ պատճառով այն տարածքներում, որտեղ այս կենդանիներն ապրում են, կիրառվում են անվտանգության խիստ կանոններ։
Կոմոդո վիշապը ունի նաև յուրահատուկ հոտառություն, որը թույլ է տալիս զգալ զոհին մի քանի կիլոմետր հեռավորությունից։ Բացի այդ, այն կարող է կուլ տալ բավական մեծ կտորներ՝ առանց մանրացնելու։
Կոմոդո վիշապը բնության ամենատպավորիչ և միաժամանակ վտանգավոր արարածներից մեկն է։ Նրա ուժը, թունավոր կծումը և որսորդական հմտությունները նրան դարձնում են իսկական «հսկա գիշատիչ», որի մասին դեռ շատ բաներ կան բացահայտելու։
