Հավայան կղզիների հազարավոր բնակիչների հրամայվել է տարհանվել, քանի որ ամերիկյան նահանգը տուժել է վերջին երկու տասնամյակների ամենաուժեղ հեղեղումից, հաղորդել է BBC News-ը։
Հոնոլուլուի քաղաքապետ Ռիք Բլանջիարդիի խոսքով՝ սա վերջին շաբաթվա ընթացքում կղզեխմբին հարվածող երկրորդ խոշոր փոթորիկն է՝ պատճառելով 1 միլիարդ դոլարը գերազանցող վնաս։
Ուրբաթ օրը մամուլի ասուլիսում Բլանջիարդին ասել է, որ մինչ այժմ փրկվել է ավելի քան 230 մարդ։ Շաբաթ վաղ առավոտյան կղզեխմբում շարունակվել են հորդառատ անձրեւները։ Իշխանությունները զգուշացրել են, որ նահանգի ամենախիտ բնակեցված կղզու՝ Օահուի ջրամբարը վտանգի տակ է։ Բլանջիարդին կոչ է արել բնակիչներին «փոթորկին հնարավորինս լուրջ վերաբերվել»։
Նահանգապետ Ջոշ Գրինը մամուլի ասուլիսում հայտնել է, որ փոթորիկների զոհերի մասին հաղորդագրություններ չկան եւ գովել է արտակարգ ծառայությունների աշխատակիցներին մարդկանց անվտանգությունն ապահովելու համար։
Բարձրացած ջուրը հեղեղել է տներն ու մեքենաները՝ ստիպելով տարհանվել նահանգի մայրաքաղաք Հոնոլուլուից հյուսիս գտնվող մոտ 5 500 մարդու։ Կղզիներում ճանապարհները փակվել են։
Հոնոլուլուի արտակարգ իրավիճակների կառավարման դեպարտամենտը մի քանի անգամ նախազգուշացրել է հեղեղման մասին եւ կոչ է արել բնակիչներին փնտրել ավելի բարձր վայրեր եւ խուսափել հեղեղված տարածքներից։ Հեղեղման մասին նախազգուշացումներ են տրվել նաեւ Մաուիի, Մոլոկաիի եւ Մեծ կղզու համար։
Կղզին գտնվում է «Կոնա ցածր մակարդակ»-ի ազդեցության տակ, որը ցածր ճնշման դանդաղ շարժվող համակարգ է եւ տաք, խոնավ օդը քաշում է դեպի Հավայան կղզիներ՝ բերելով ուժեղ անձրեւներ եւ հանկարծակի հեղեղումներ։ Որոշ տարածքներում տեղումների քանակը գերազանցել է 25 դյույմը, իսկ քամու արագությունը հասել է 60 կմ/ժ։
Ամենավատ եղանակն արդեն անցել է, չնայած Հավայան կղզիներում ուժեղ անձրեւներն ու ամպրոպները, հավանաբար, կշարունակվեն մինչեւ հաջորդ շաբաթվա սկիզբը։
Փոթորիկը կղզու համար վերջին փորձությունն էր, որը հաճախակի բախվում է բնական աղետների հետեւանքներին, ինչպիսին էին 2023թ․ Լահայնայի անտառային հրդեհները, որոնք խլեցին ավելի քան 100 մարդու կյանք։
