Իրական 30 վառելիքի պահեստների վրա Իսրայելի հարվածները «զգալիորեն գերազանցել են» ԱՄՆ-ի սպասումները և առաջացրել են դաշնակիցների միջև առաջին լուրջ անհամաձայնությունը, հաղորդում է Axios-ը՝ հղում անելով երկու կողմերի աղբյուրներին։
Իսրայելը մարտի 7-ին, շաբաթ օրը, հարվածել է վառելիքի պահեստներին։ Իսրայելի պաշտպանության բանակը պնդել է, որ վառելիքի պահեստները «օգտագործվում են իրանական ռեժիմի կողմից»՝ իր բանակին մատակարարելու համար, ի թիվս այլ բաների։
Իսրայելը տեղեկացրել է ԱՄՆ-ին հարձակման մասին։ Սակայն, ԱՄՆ զինվորականները զարմացած են հարվածների մասշտաբներից, ընդգծել է Axios-ը։ Իսրայելցի պաշտոնյայի խոսքով, ԱՄՆ-ի կողմից Իսրայելին ուղղված ուղերձը հետագայում հետևյալն է եղել. «Ի՞նչ է սա, գրողը տանի» (WTF - "what the f***")։
Axios-ի տվյալներով՝ ԱՄՆ-ն մտահոգված է, որ ենթակառուցվածքների վրա Իսրայելի հարվածները կարող են համախմբել իրանական հասարակությանը Թեհրանի վարչակարգի շուրջ և հանգեցնել նավթի գների բարձրացման։ «Նախագահին դուր չի գալիս այս հարձակումը։ Նա ուզում է խնայել նավթը, այլ ոչ թե այրել այն։ Եվ դա մարդկանց հիշեցնում է բենզինի բարձր գների մասին», - ասել է Դոնալդ Թրամփի խորհրդականը։
Հանրապետական սենատոր Լինդսի Գրեհեմը (Թրամփի մտերիմ դաշնակից) կոչ է արել Իսրայելին «զգույշ լինել» թիրախներ ընտրելիս։ Նա նշել է, որ Իսրայելը ցուցադրել է «տպավորիչ կարողություններ» Իրանի վարչակարգը խաթարելու հարցում։ Սակայն «շուտով կգա այն օրը, երբ իրանցի ժողովուրդը կորոշի իր ճակատագիրը», և, հետևաբար, Իսրայելը պետք է «զգույշ լինի», քանի որ նավթային տնտեսությունը կարևոր կլինի իրանցի ժողովրդի համար՝ «վարչակարգի անկումից հետո նոր և ավելի լավ կյանք սկսելու համար»։
