Իսրայելի վարչապետ Բենիամին Նեթանյահուն դեռ ընթացիկ ռազմական արշավի մեկնարկից շատ առաջ բազմիցս ընդգծել է, որ իր երկիրը պատրաստ է գործել Իրանի դեմ՝ անկախ Միացյալ Նահանգների ներգրավվածության մակարդակից։
Ըստ The Washington Post պարբերականի, ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի հետ առանձնազրույցների ժամանակ իսրայելցի առաջնորդը բացահայտ հայտարարել է, որ Իսրայելը կարող է հարվածներ սկսել իրանական ռազմական օբյեկտների ուղղությամբ ինչպես Վաշինգտոնի հետ համատեղ գործողության շրջանակում, այնպես էլ միայնակ՝ անհրաժեշտության դեպքում։
Լրատվամիջոցի՝ բանակցությունների բովանդակությանը ծանոթ զրուցակիցները պնդում են, որ Նեթանյահուի նման դիրքորոշումն առաջացել է այն մտավախությունների ֆոնին, որ առանց ամերիկյան հաստատուն աջակցության Իսրայելը չի կարողանա վստահորեն չեզոքացնել Իրանից բխող սպառնալիքը։ Նա ձգտում էր ստանալ Թրամփի համաձայնությունը համակարգված գործողությունների համար, սակայն միևնույն ժամանակ չէր թաքցնում, որ ԱՄՆ-ի մերժումն Իսրայելի համար խոչընդոտ չի դառնա սեփական անվտանգության պաշտպանության հարցում։
Ինչպես նշում է պարբերականը, մոտեցման այս հաստատակամությունը դարձել է այն գործոններից մեկը, որն ազդել է Թրամփի վարչակազմի՝ գործողության պլանավորման և իրականացման հարցում Թել Ավիվի հետ փոխգործակցությունն ակտիվացնելու որոշման վրա։ Աղբյուրները նշել են, որ Իսրայելի վարչապետի նման հայտարարություններն ուժեղացրել են ճնշումն ամերիկյան ղեկավարության վրա՝ դրդելով նրան դիտարկել ԱՄՆ-ի առավել լայնածավալ մասնակցությունն իրանական սպառնալիքին հակազդելու հարցում։
Նշվում է, որ դիվանագիտական շրջանակներում ինքնուրույն գործելու Իսրայելի նման բացահայտ պատրաստակամությունը մտահոգություն է առաջացրել, քանի որ այն մեծացնում էր միակողմանի քայլերի հավանականությունը, որոնք կարող էին հանգեցնել հակամարտության ընդլայնմանը։ Այդուհանդերձ, Իսրայելի պաշտոնական ներկայացուցիչներն ընդգծել են, որ Վաշինգտոնի հետ համատեղ գործողությունները մնում են նախընտրելի ռազմավարություն, իսկ սեփական ուժերը դիտարկվում են որպես պահուստային տարբերակ, եթե դիվանագիտական աջակցությունն անհասանելի լինի։
