Պենտագոնի ղեկավար Փիթ Հեգսեթը երկուշաբթի օրը Իրանի դեմ ԱՄՆ-ի և Իսրայելի կողմից իրականացվող «էպիկական կատաղություն» գործողությունն անվանել է պատմության մեջ ամենաբարդն ու ճշմարիտը:
«Պատերազմի նախարարությունը սկսել է «էպիկական կատաղություն» գործողությունը, որն ամենաճշգրիտն ու ամենադժվարն է պատմության մեջ»,-հայտարարել է նա մամուլի ասուլիսի ժամանակ:
«Մենք սա կավարտենք «Ամերիկան առաջինը» սկզբունքով և երբ նախագահ Թրամփը որոշի։ Ուրիշ ոչ ոք: Ինչպես և պետք է լինի»,-ասել է նա:
Հեգսեթը նաև հայտարարել է, որ իրենք չեն սկսել այս պատերազմը:

Թեհրանը բանակցություններ չի վարել. նրանք ձգձգում էին գործընթացը՝ ժամանակ շահելով իրենց հրթիռային պաշարները համալրելու և միջուկային հավակնությունները վերականգնելու համար: Նրանց նպատակն էր մեզ պատանդ պահել՝ սպառնալով հարված հասցնել մեր զորքերին։ Նախագահ Թրամփը նման խաղեր չի խաղում: Մենք ինքներս ենք որոշել այս պատերազմի պայմանները սկզբից մինչև վերջ։ Մեր հավակնությունները ուտոպիստական չեն։ Նրանք իրատեսական են»,-ասել է նա:
