Ադրբեջանի ցեղասպան քաղաքականությունը շարունակվում է, իսկ անպատժելիությունն ու ժխտողականությունը սումգայիթյան ջարդերի նման ողբերգությունների կրկնության լրացուցիչ ռիսկեր են ստեղծում։ Այս մասին Ծիծեռնակաբերդի հուշահամալիրում՝ սումգայիթյան ջարդերի տարելիցին նվիրված միջոցառման ժամանակ լրագրողների հետ զրույցում հայտարարել է Արցախի նախկին պետնախարար Արտակ Բեգլարյանը։

Նրա խոսքով՝ նմանատիպ հանցագործությունների կրկնության սպառնալիքները պահպանվում են թե՛ Բաքվի քաղաքականության, թե՛ Հայաստանի իշխանությունների կողմից ոչ բավարար արձագանքի պատճառով։

«Հայաստանի իշխանությունները որևէ կերպ արձագանք չեն տալիս, որևէ կերպ կանխարգելիչ գործողություններ չեն կատարում, այլ հակառակը նպաստում են Ալիևյան ցեղասպանական ռեժիմի քաղաքականությանը, հակահայ քաղաքականությանը, որը ինքնին ցավալի է, բայց ցավոք սրտի արդեն օրինաչափություն է դարձել։ Իսկ Ադրբեջանի կողմից էլ հստակ օրինաչափություն կա և իրենք հետևողական այդ քաղաքականությունը տանում են, իբր ցույց տալու համար, որ հայկական կողմն է ագրեսոր և հայկական կողմն է ցեղասպանական կողմը»,- հայտարարել է Բեգլարյանը։

Բեգլարյանի խոսքով՝ իրականության ժխտման և խեղաթյուրման քաղաքականությունը լուրջ ռիսկեր է ստեղծում հայ ժողովրդի անվտանգության համար և նպաստում տարածաշրջանում լարվածության հետագա էսկալացիային։

Հիշատակի միջոցառման շրջանակում հասարակական գործիչները և Բաքվի իրադարձությունները վերապրածները ծաղիկներ են խոնարհել սումգայիթյան ջարդերի զոհերի հիշատակին կանգնեցված խաչքարի մոտ։ Ակցիայի մասնակիցները նշել են, որ վառ են պահում կատարվածի և զոհված հարազատների հիշատակը։

1988 թվականի փետրվարի 27–29-ը ադրբեջանական Սումգայիթ քաղաքում հայ բնակչության ջարդերը հանգեցրել են տասնյակ զոհերի և հարյուրավոր վիրավորների։ Այս իրադարձությունները շրջադարձային կետ են դարձել միջէթնիկ հակամարտության սրման հարցում և հայ փախստականների առաջին հոսքերը հասցրել են Լեռնային Ղարաբաղ և Հայաստան։

Զոհերի ստույգ թիվը մինչ օրս վիճարկվում է։ Ըստ այդ ժամանակվա պաշտոնական տվյալների՝ զոհվել է 26 հայ, սակայն կան բազմաթիվ վկայություններ այն մասին, որ երեք օրվա ընթացքում սպանվել և խոշտանգվել են մի քանի հարյուր մարդ։
