Ռուբեն Վարդանյանը տասնամյակներ շարունակ նախաձեռնել և իրականացրել է զարգացման լայնածավալ նախագծեր կրթության, բարեգործության և պետականաշինության ոլորտում՝ իր ժամանակն ու ռեսուրսները ներդնելով Հայաստանի և Արցախի ապագայի մեջ։
Ավելի քան երկու տարի է, ինչ Ռուբեն Վարդանյանն ապօրինաբար պահվում է Բաքվի բանտում։ Մեկ տարուց ավելի տևած նրա դատավարությունը լայնորեն քննադատվել է իրավաբանների, միջազգային կառույցների և մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպանների կողմից՝ որպես արդար դատաքննության երաշխիքների հետ ամբողջությամբ անհամատեղելի գործընթաց: Արդյունքում Ռուբեն Վարդանյանը ռազմական դատարանի կողմից դատապարտվել է 20 տարվա ազատազրկման՝ մեղադրվելով հանցանքների մեջ, որոնք նա և նրա իրավաբանական թիմը կտրականապես մերժում են՝ համարելով դրանք քաղաքական նկատառումներով պայմանավորված և ապացույցներից զուրկ:
