Փիթսբուրգի համալսարանի բժշկական դպրոցի գիտնականները հայտնաբերել են անսպասելի մեխանիզմ, որը կարող է փոխել ինսուլինային դիմադրության և 2-րդ տիպի շաքարախտի դեմ պայքարը: Հետազոտողները հիմնական դերը վերագրում են ճարպային հյուսվածքում բնակվող իմունային բջիջների հատուկ խմբին:

Ինսուլինային դիմադրությունը վիճակ է, որի դեպքում մարմնի բջիջները դառնում են ավելի քիչ զգայուն ինսուլինի նկատմամբ: Նախկինում կարծում էին, որ ներքին օրգանները շրջապատող ավելորդ ճարպը (վիսցերալ ճարպը) առաջացնում է քրոնիկ բորբոքում և այդպիսով նպաստում շաքարախտի զարգացմանը: Այնուամենայնիվ, նոր հետազոտությունները ցույց են տալիս, որ ճարպային հյուսվածքը պարունակում է իմունային բջիջներ, որոնք կարող են ճնշել բորբոքումը՝ այդպիսով պայքարելով հիվանդության հիմքում ընկած պատճառի դեմ:

«Ժամանակակից հասարակության համար մարտահրավերն այն է, որ բնակչության կեսը կամ ավելորդ քաշ ունենա, կամ գիրանա, հակառակ դեպքում գիրությունը կդառնա բազմաթիվ քրոնիկ հիվանդությունների, այդ թվում՝ շաքարախտի աճի շարժիչ ուժ», - նշում է նախագծի ղեկավար և սրտաբանության պրոֆեսոր Պարթա Դատտան: «Մեր հայտնագործությունը կարող է բանալին լինել ինսուլինային դիմադրության վերացման և 2-րդ տիպի շաքարախտի բուժման համար»:

Մենք խոսում ենք ռեզիդենտ մակրոֆագերի՝ հյուսվածքներում մշտապես բնակվող բջիջների մասին: Ի տարբերություն ակտիվ բորբոքային մակրոֆագերի, դրանք բնույթով հատկապես «մարտական» չեն. նրանց աշխատանքն է վերացնել մեռած բջիջները, պահպանել հյուսվածքների կառուցվածքը և մեղմացնել չափազանց բորբոքումը:
