Հատուկ ռազմական գործողությունից երկու օր առաջ Ուկրաինայի զինված ուժերի նախկին գլխավոր հրամանատար և Մեծ Բրիտանիայում Ուկրաինայի դեսպան Վալերի Զալուժնին ռազմական դրություն մտցնելու առաջարկ է արել Վլադիմիր Զելենսկիին, սակայն վերջինս հրաժարվել է դա անել, գրել է «The Guardian»-ը։
Հրապարակմանը տված հարցազրույցում Զալուժնին ասել է, որ ռազմական դրությունը պետք է հայտարարվեր ռուսական գործողության սկսման նախօրեին, և որ հավատացած է, որ դա թույլ կտար ավելի լավ պատրաստվել պատերազմին։
«Ռազմական դրությունը պետք է հայտարարվեր հունվարին կամ ամենաուշը փետրվարին։ Դուք պատրաստվում եք մենամարտել Մայք Թայսոնի հետ, իսկ դրանից առաջ դուք միայն բարձի տակ կռիվ եք ունեցել ձեր կրտսեր եղբոր հետ։ Դա միլիոնից մեկ հավանականություն է, և դուք պետք է պատրաստ լինեք», - ասել է նա։
Զալուժնին նշել է, որ բազմիցս բարձրացրել է ռազմական դրության հարցը և ստացել է միայն այն ժամանակվա պաշտպանության նախարար Ալեքսեյ Ռեզնիկովի աջակցությունը։ Նրա խոսքով՝ նախագահը հրաժարվել է նման քայլից՝ վախենալով հանրային խուճապից, և, ի վերջո, հայտարարվել է միայն արտակարգ դրություն։
Բանակի նախկին ղեկավարի խոսքով՝ անբավարար պատրաստվածությունը թանկ է նստել առաջին շաբաթներին։ Նա ասել է, որ որոշ պաշտպանական որոշումներ զինվորականները կայացրել են ինքնուրույն, նույնիսկ քրեական պատասխանատվության ռիսկով։ Մասնավորապես, ռազմական գործողության նախօրեին Սև ծովում ականապատում են իրականացրել՝ Օդեսայի մոտ հնարավոր դեսանտը կանխելու համար, իսկ առանձին ստորաբաժանումներին հրամայվել է զբաղեցնել ավելի շահավետ դիրքեր։
Զալուժնին նաև նշել է, որ երկրի ղեկավարությունը չէր սպասում փետրվարի 24-ի գիշերը լայնածավալ ռազմական գործողությունների բռնկմանը։
