«Գահերի խաղի» աշխարհը կրկին ընդլայնվում է, բայց այս անգամ ուշադրության կենտրոնը սառցե հյուսիսից տեղափոխվում է Արևմտյան ծովի չբացահայտված հորիզոններ: Ըստ The Hollywood Reporter-ի՝ HBO-ն գտնվում է Արյա Ստարկի մասին նոր սփին-օֆֆի մշակման վաղ փուլում: Մեյսի Ուիլյամսը, ինչպես սպասվում է, կվերադառնա իր անանուն, թափառող մարդասպանի պաշտամունքային դերին։
Այս որոշումը ռազմավարական փոխարինում էր չեղարկված, երկար սպասված Ջոն Սնոուի նախագծի համար: Աղբյուրները պնդում են, որ Հյուսիսում թագավորի մասին սերիալը չկարողացավ անցնել կերպարի «Final Fantasy»-ի մռայլ վիճակից այն կողմ, և նրա «դեպրեսիվ» պատմությունը հետտրավմատիկ սթրեսային խանգարման հետ արձագանք չի գտել թիմի մոտ։

Արյան սկսում է իր ճանապարհորդությունը «Վեստերոսից արևմուտք»՝ քարտեզից այն կողմ թաքնվածը բացահայտելու համար։
Ի տարբերություն «ծանր» և հոգեբանորեն մռայլ Ջոն Սնոուի սցենարի, նոր սերիալը կլինի ավելի արկածային և դինամիկ: Պատմությունը կարող է տեղի ունենալ Միջերկրական ծովից ոգեշնչված երկրներում կամ նույնիսկ ամբողջովին նոր մայրցամաքներում, որոնք դեռևս չեն ներկայացվել շոուում։ Սերիալը դեռևս շատ վաղ զարգացման փուլում է և դեռ պաշտոնապես կանաչ լույս չի ստացել, բայց երկրպագուներն արդեն ոգևորված են Մեյսի Ուիլյամսի վերադարձի հեռանկարով։
