Վենեսուելայի նախագահ Նիկոլաս Մադուրոյի բռնազավթումը աշխարհը դուրս է բերում նոր տարածք։ Աշխարհաքաղաքականությունը դառնում է ավելի ու ավելի տարօրինակ և ապագայում շատ ավելի վտանգավոր, գրում է Sky News-ի արտաքին հարցերի խմբագիր Դոմինիկ Ուորնը։
Ինչպես հիշեցնում է փորձագետը, ամերիկյան նախագահն արդարացնում է ինքնիշխան երկրի առաջնորդի ձերբակալությունը՝ հղում անելով ԱՄՆ արտաքին քաղաքականությանը 1830-ական թվականներին, և ասում է, որ այժմ ԱՄՆ-ն երկարաժամկետ հեռանկարում կկառավարի Վենեսուելան։
«Որպեսզի հասկանաք, թե ինչ է կատարվում, ուշադրությամբ կարդացեք հետևյալ արտահայտությունը․ «Դոնրոյի դոկտրին»։ Այն անորոշ է, բայց վճռորոշ նշանակություն ունի հասկանալու համար այն, ինչ հենց նոր տեղի ունեցավ, և այն, ինչ, ամենայն հավանականությամբ, տեղի կունենա հետագայում։ Դրա համար անհրաժեշտ է կարճ պատմական դաս։ 1830-ականներին ԱՄՆ նախագահ Ջեյմս Մոնրոն մշակեց դոկտրին, որը կոչվեց նրա անունով։ Դրանում ասվում էր, որ Ամերիկան պետք է դառնա ԱՄՆ ազդեցության գոտի։

Հոդվածի հեղինակի կարծիքով, Սպիտակ տան նոր ազգային անվտանգության ռազմավարությունը հղում էր անում Մոնրոյի դոկտրինին, բայց ավելացրել էր այն, ինչ անվանեց «Թրամփի հետևանք»․ «ԱՄՆ-ն ձեռքերը ծալած չի նստի, երբ թշնամական կամ հանցավոր հարևանները գործում են և կիրառում «քրոնիկ իրավախախտումներ»»։ Եվ այժմ Դոնալդ Թրամփը Մադուրոյի բռնազավթումը ներկայացրել է նույն լույսի ներքո։
«Մենք մեծապես փոխարինել ենք այն, – ասել է նա Մոնրոյի դոկտրինի մասին։ – Այժմ դա կոչվում է «Դոնրոյի դոկտրին»։ Ամերիկյան գերակայությունը Արևմտյան կիսագնդում այլևս երբեք կասկածի տակ չի դրվի»։
