Հնագետները կարեւոր հայտնագործություն են կատարել Եփեսոս հնագույն քաղաքում, որն այժմ գտնվում է Թուրքիայի տարածքում, այն հիշատակվում է Աստվածաշնչում որպես յոթ քաղաքներից մեկը, որոնց հասցեագրվել է Հովհաննես առաքյալի ուղերձը Հայտնությունների գրքում, տեղեկացրել է Fox News-ը։
Terrace Houses համալիրի տարածքում պեղումների ժամանակ հետազոտողները հայտնաբերել են հռոմեական դարաշրջանի մարմարե լոգարան եւ տղամարդու արձանի մեծ բեկոր։
Մոտ հինգ ոտնաչափ երկարությամբ, երկուսուկես ոտնաչափ լայնությամբ եւ մոտ երկու ոտնաչափ բարձրությամբ լոգարանը փորագրված է սեւ գծեր ունեցող մարմարով եւ, հավանաբար, ծառայել է որպես հարուստ ընտանիքի անձնական լոգարան։ Ժամանակի ընթացքում այն վերածվել է դեկորատիվ շատրվանի կամ ջրավազանի՝ ընդգծելով առարկայի բազմաշերտ պատմությունը։
Արձանի բեկորը, որը դեմքով դեպի ներքեւ է դրված, հետագայում օգտագործվել է ճանապարհը սալարկելու համար։
Երկու արտեֆակտներն էլ պատկերացում են տալիս Հռոմեական կայսրության ժամանակաշրջանում Եփեսոսի հարուստ բնակիչների շքեղ ապրելակերպի մասին։
Եփեսոսը ոչ միայն հին աշխարհի խոշոր առեւտրային եւ մշակութային կենտրոն էր, այլեւ ակտիվ քրիստոնեական քաղաք։ Պողոս առաքյալը քարոզել է այստեղ, եւ քաղաքը դարձել է Հայտնության յոթ հասցեներից մեկը։ Այս նոր գտածոներն օգնում են պատմաբաններին հասկանալ քաղաքի բնակիչների առօրյա կյանքը եւ նրանց մշակութային համատեքստը վաղ քրիստոնեական շրջանում։
Հայտնագործությունն ավելանում է տարածաշրջանում հայտնաբերված այլ հնագիտական ապացույցներին, այդ թվում՝ վերջերս հայտնաբերված հռոմեական սրահներին, քրիստոնեական խորհրդանիշներին եւ խճանկարներին, որոնք թույլ են տալիս ավելի ամբողջական ձեւով վերականգնել աստվածաշնչյան քաղաքի բնակիչների կյանքն ու համոզմունքները: Գիտնականները նշել են, որ նման գտածոները ոչ միայն բացահայտում են հին մարդկանց առօրյա կյանքը, այլեւ նոր նյութեր են տրամադրում Փոքր Ասիայում վաղ քրիստոնեության զարգացման վրա Հռոմեական կայսրության ազդեցության ուսումնասիրության համար:
