Սթենֆորդի համալսարանի գիտնականները հայտնաբերել են արյան խումբ, որը թույլ է տալիս իր տերերին ավելի երկար ապրել, ունի սրտի հիվանդությունների և արյան մակարդուկների ավելի ցածր ռիսկ, ինչպես նաև ունի ավելի քիչ մոլեկուլներ, որոնք առաջացնում են բորբոքում: Սա O արյան խումբն է` նույն ինքը առաջին խումբը:
Նշվում է, որ սա արյան ամենահազվագյուտ խումբն է. դրա կրողները իրենց էրիթրոցիտների վրա լիովին զուրկ են բոլոր Rh հակածիններից։ Այս արյունը կոչվում է նաև «ոսկե արյուն»։
