Մեկ տարեկան երեխան, որը մնացել էր առանց սննդի և ջրի, մենակ էր մնացել Կովրովի՝ Վլադիմիրսկայա Օբով թաղամասի վարձակալած բնակարանում: Ավելի ուշ մայրը նրա մարմինը՝ մանկական հագուստի և խաղալիքների հետ միասին, փաթեթավորել էր տուփի մեջ և նետել պատուհանների տակ: Նա շարունակել էր ստել իր ընտանիքին, թե երեխան դայակի հետ է:

Հետաքննիչների կողմից բացահայտված և դատարանում ներկայացված պատմությունը ցնցող է իր դաժանությամբ և ցինիզմով։ Մեղադրողը պահանջում է 18 տարվա ազատազրկում 20-ամյա Կովրովի բնակչի համար։ Եվ սա ամենախիստ պատիժը չէ, որ նա կարող էր ստանալ։

Որոշելով ազատվել որդուց՝ նա մեկ տարեկան երեխային մենակ թողեց դատարկ բնակարանում։ Առանց ջրի։ Առանց սննդի։ Մինչդեռ նրա կյանքը շարունակվեց իր սովորական հունով։ Նա հանգիստ ասաց երեխայի հորը և հարազատներին, որ տղան խնամվում է, և որ նա լավ է, հայտնում է դատախազությունը ։

«Նա միշտ դայակներ է ունեցել», - անամոթաբար ստեց նա։

Միայն այն ժամանակ, երբ հարևանները վերջապես հայտնաբերեցին քայքայվող մնացորդները, ճշմարտությունը բացահայտվեց։ Այդ ժամանակ երեխայի մահից անցել էր ավելի քան մեկ ամիս։
