Տնտեսագետ Հրայր Կամենդատյանը ֆեյսբուքյան իր էջում գրում է. «1919 թ. հունվարին բացվեց Փարիզի խաղաղության կոնֆերանսը (խորհրդաժողովը)։ Հայաստանի ու հայ ժողովրդի շահերը այդ կոնֆերանսում պաշտպանելու համար Փարիզ մեկնեց հանրապետության պատվիրակությունը՝ Ավետիս Ահարոնյանի նախագահությամբ։

Ավելի վաղ՝ 1912 թվականից Փարիզ գործում էր Ազգային պատվիրակությունը եգիպտահայազգային գործիչ, Հայկական բարեգործական ընդհանուր միության հիմնադիր Պողոս Նուբար Փաշայի գլխավորությամբ։

Փարիզում պատվիրակությունների միջև ծագել էր տարակարծություններ։ Հանրապետության կառավարությունը չափավոր տարածքային պահանջներ ուներ՝ առավելագույնը՝ 6, նվազագույնը՝ 3 նահանգ՝ ծովային ելքով, իսկ Ազգային պատվիրակությունը պահանջում էր ծովից ծով Հայաստան՝ թուրքահայ 7 նահանգ՝ Կիլիկիայի հետ միասին։

Ավետիս Ահարոնյանը ստորագրեց ծովից ծով պահանջների փաստաթուղթը՝ անտեսելով կառավարության հրահանգը։

Սան Ռեմոյի խորհրդաժողովը։ 1920թ. ապրիլին Իտալիայի Սան Ռեմո քաղաքում կայացավ Անտանտի տերությունների (Մեծ Բրիտանիայի, Ֆրանսիայի, Իտալիայի և Ճապոնիայի) ղեկավարների խորհրդաժողով, որտեղ մշակվեց և Օսմանյան Թուրքիայի կառավարությանը ներկայացվեց առաջիկա հաշտության պայմանագրի նախագիծը։ Այստեղ հստակեցվեցին նաև Հայկական հարցի հետ կապված մի շարք խնդիրներ՝ մանդատի տարածքների, ռազմական օգնության և այլն։ Միաժամանակ ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահ Վ. Վիլսոնը ստանձնեց պարտավորություն, իրբև միջնորդ, գծելու հայ-թուրքական սահմանը։

Սևրի պայմանագիրը։ 1920 թ. օգոստոսի 10-ին Փարիզի Սևր կոչվող արվարձանում Անտանտի երկրները սուլթանական Թուրքիայի հետ կնքեցին հաշտության պայմանագիր։

Հայաստանի կողմից պայմանագիրը ստորագրեց հանրապետության պատվիրակության ղեկավար Ավետիս Ահարոնյանը։ Նա այդ օրը համարել էր իր կյանքի ամենաերջանիկ օրը։

Պայմանագրի 88-93-րդ հոդվածները վերաբերում էին Հայաստանին։ Օսմանյան Թուրքիան պարտավորվում էր ճանաչել Միացյալ Հայաստանը։ Հայաստանին էին անցնելու Էրզրումի, Տրապիզոնի, Վանի և Բիթլիսի նահանգները՝ ոչ ամբողջությամբ՝ ընդամենը 90 հազար քառ. կմ, ելքով դեպի Սև ծով։ Դա նշանակում էր, որ Միացյալ, Անկախ Հայաստանի տարածքը կազմելու էր 160 հազար քառ. կմ, (70 հազարը՝ առկա տարածքը, 90 հազարը՝ չորս նահանգները ոչ ամբողջությամբ)։

Ընդ որում՝ հայ-թուրքական պետական սահմանը որոշելու էր ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահը, որն էլ նույն թվականի նոյեմբերի 22-ին ստորագրեց Միացյալ, Անկախ Հայաստանի իրավարար վճիռը (փաստաթուղթը) համապատասխան քարտեզով։ Սակայն, ցավոք, հետագա դեպքերն ու իրադարձությունները աննպաստ ընթացան։ Սևրի պայմանագիրը մնաց թղթի վրա»։
