ԱՄՆ-ը Թուրքիային դիտարկում է որպես բնական պատնեշ, հակակշիռ և մրցակից Վաշինգտոնի հիմնական հակառակորդների՝ Ռուսաստանի և Չինաստանի (միանշանակ նաև Իրանի) դեմ։

«Վերջին օրերին հաճախ է քննարկվում, թե ինչու է ԱՄՆ-ը Հարավային Կովկասի գործընթացները դիտարկում թուրքական (թյուրքական) գործոնի տեսանկյունից։ Իրականում սա բավականին պրագմատիկ հաշվարկ է ամերիկյան արտաքին քաղաքականության համատեքստում և մեծ պատկերի միայն մի մասն է։ ԱՄՆ-ը Թուրքիային դիտարկում է որպես բնական պատնեշ, հակակշիռ և մրցակից Վաշինգտոնի հիմնական հակառակորդների՝ Ռուսաստանի և Չինաստանի (միանշանակ նաև Իրանի) դեմ։ Այսինքն՝ ուժեղ Թուրքիան (ներգրավված նաև թյուրքական աշխարհի գաղափարախոսական հենքում) կարող է խնդիրներ ստեղծել Մոսկվայի և Պեկինի համար՝ սկսած Հարավային Կովկասից և Սևծովյան տարածաշրջանից մինչև Կենտրոնական Ասիա և Մերձավոր Արևելք, որտեղ Ռուսաստանն ու Չինաստանը կենսական շահեր ունեն։
Հետևաբար, Վաշինգտոնը ձևավորում է խոչընդոտներ, պատնեշներ և լրացուցիչ մարտահրավերներ իր մրցակիցների համար։ Սա բնական աշխարհաքաղաքական մրցակցություն է, որն առկա է գլոբալ տերությունների միջև։ Այդ տրամաբանությամբ՝ թյուրքական ազդեցության աճը բխում է Վաշինգտոնի շահերից այնքան ժամանակ, քանի դեռ այն խնդիրներ է ստեղծում Պեկինի և Մոսկվայի համար։ Միաժամանակ, Վաշինգտոնը ստեղծում է նոր գործիքներ Թուրքիային վերահսկելի ազդեցության տակ պահելու համար և շարունակում է կիրառել ավանդական մեխանիզմները։
Նման մոտեցում Վաշինգտոնը ունի նաև Հնդկաստանի նկատմամբ՝ Դելին դիտարկելով որպես բնական հակակշիռ Չինաստանի դեմ, որքան էլ այդ մոտեցումը դժգոհություն առաջացնի Հնդկաստանում։
Այսպիսով, քանի դեռ Թուրքիան օգտագործվում է Պեկինի և Մոսկվայի դեմ գլոբալ մրցակցության խաղում, նրա տարածաշրջանային կշիռը մեծանալու է՝ կլանելով մաքսիմումը (լինի դա Արցախ, Սիրիա, միջանցքներ ու ճանապարհներ, ազդեցություն թյուրքական պետություններում և այլն:) Ինչ վերաբերում է մեզ, ապա Հարավային Կովկասում զսպման ու հակակշռման մեխանիզմների բացակայության պայմաններում այս բնական գործընթացը շարունակվելու է մինչև բալանսի վերականգնումը:
