Ֆիզիկապես վերջին անգամ Ռուբեն Վարդանյանի տեսել եմ Արցախ գնալուց առաջ։ Իսկ շփվել եմ իր հետ նրա ձերբակալվելուց մի քանի ժամ առաջ։ Զրուցում էինք շուրջ մեկ ժամ՝ ինչ է կատարվում, ինչ չի կատարվում։ Խոսում էինք նաև այն մասին, որ միգուցե պետք է Ռուբենը  վերադառնա, սակայն նա կտրականապես ասաց՝ ոչ, ինքը մնալու է այստեղ, և այդպես էլ մնաց։ Այս մասին ասել է հաղորդավար Եգոր Գլումովը։

«Եվ հենց այդ օրն էլ նա ձերբակալվեց՝ բառացիորեն մի քանի ժամ անց։ Մեր վերջին խոսակցությունն այդ ժամանակն էր․ նա ասաց, որ զբաղված է, հիմա չի կարող երկար խոսել, հետո կզրուցենք։ Մի քանի օր անց, երբ արդեն ձերբակալվել էր, ես WhatsApp-ում նկատեցի, որ մեր զրույցներից, ուղիղ կապով ուղարկած ձայնագրություններից, նկարներից, սքրինշոթերից ոչինչ չի մնացել։ Մինչ հիմա ինձ համար մեծ գաղտնիք է՝ դա Ռուբե՞նն է ջնջել, թե՞ արդեն այն ժամանակ, երբ նրա հեռախոսը հայտնվել է ադրբեջանցիների ձեռքում, նրանք են այդ ամենը մաքրել կամ օգտագործել։ Դա ինձ համար մեծ ցավ էր։ Դատարանի ժամանակ նույնիսկ մեր վերջին հարցազրույցներից դրվագներ էին ցույց տվել․ պարզվեց, որ դրանք ևս օգտագործվել են նրա դեմ։ Այնտեղ կային բառեր, որոնք ադրբեջանական պրոպագանդիստները կոնտեքստից դուրս էին հանել և օգտագործել։ Դա ներառում էր նաև իմ և Ռուբենի վերջին հարցազրույցը, երբ նա Ստեփանակերտում էր, իսկ ես այստեղից ինտերնետի միջոցով կարողացա հարցազրույցը պատրաստել։ Ես շատ եմ ցավում դրա համար»,- ասել է Գլումովը։
