«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է.
iz.ru–ն «Անհրաժեշտ քաղաքապետ. ընտրություններ են անցկացվել Հայաստանի կարևորագույն քաղաքում» վերնագրով հոդվածում գրում է, որ ընտրություններ են անցկացվել Հայաստանի Վաղարշապատ համայնքում: Ակնկալվում էր, որ ընդդիմությունը կհաղթի իշխող կուսակցությանը, սակայն, ի վերջո, Փաշինյանի կողմնակիցները մեծամասնություն են ստացել ավագանիում, և նրանք կկարողանան հեշտությամբ ընտրել իրենց քաղաքապետին: Նշենք, որ Վաղարշապատը Հայաստանի չորրորդ ամենամեծ քաղաքն է՝ մոտավորապես 50000 բնակչությամբ: Համարվելով երկրի հոգևոր մայրաքաղաքը՝ այն ունի ամենամեծ վանքը՝ Էջմիածինը, որը կառուցվել է մ.թ. 3-4-րդ դարերում, և կաթողիկոս Գարեգին Բ-ի նստավայրն է:
Կովկասի հարցերով փորձագետ Արթուր Աթաևը կարծում է, որ Վաղարշապատի ընտրությունները հստակ ցույց տվեցին հայ հասարակության քաղաքական նախասիրությունները: «Ախտորոշումը մնում է նույնը։ Ընդդիմությունը չունի այնպիսի վառ առաջնորդ, որը կխորհրդանշի պայքարը և կներկայանա որպես Փաշինյանի հակառակորդ։ Երկրորդ հերթին՝ չկան ուղերձներ, այլընտրանքային առաջարկներ։ Կարելի է երկար քննադատել գործող իշխանություններին, բայց նրանք առնվազն ունեն ընտրողների համար հստակ գաղափարների ամբողջություն։ Նրանք պաշտպանում են թյուրքական աշխարհի հետ հարաբերությունների բարելավումը, Արևմուտքի հետ մերձեցումը և Ռուսաստանից հեռանալը։ Ընդհանուր առմամբ, կարելի է ասել, որ այս քարոզարշավը հերքում է Փաշինյանի նկատմամբ վստահության ճգնաժամի մասին որոշ տեսություններ, իշխող կուսակցության վարկանիշը մնում է բավականին բարձր», - նշել է նա։
Հայ քաղաքագետ Տիգրան Քոչարյանն էլ պնդել է, որ ընտրությունների արդյունքը ընդդիմության համար ձախողում չէ։ «Այս ընտրությունների հիմնական գործոնը Վաղարշապատի ընտրատարածքի խոշորացումն էր։ Հենց կցված համայնքներն են իշխող կուսակցությանը մեծամասնություն տվել, իսկ Էջմիածին քաղաքում ընդդիմությունը շատ ավելի լավ արդյունքներ է ցույց տվել։ Բացի այդ, գրանցվել են բազմաթիվ ընտրախախտումներ, չնայած, այնուամենայնիվ, անգամ դա չի կարողացել ապահովել ձայների կեսից ավելին։ Պետք է նաև նշել «Հաղթանակ» դաշինքի լավ արդյունքը, որը երկրորդ տեղն է գրավել, իսկ մյուս ընդդիմադիր կուսակցությունները պետք է քննարկեն իրենց մարտավարությունն ու ռազմավարությունը», - բացատրել է նա։
