«Ղարաբաղի և Արևելյան Զանգեզուրի մասին խոսելիս չի կարելի չանդրադառնալ Ադրբեջանի պատմության թեմային։ Ցավոք, տարիներ շարունակ հայկական կողմն ու Սփյուռքը խեղաթյուրել են մեր պատմությունը, և այդ քարոզչությունը շարունակվում է։ Մենք պետք է նրանց հակադրենք մեր գիտական ճշմարտությունները։ Ադրբեջանցիները պետք է իմանան իրենց հարուստ պատմությունը, իրենց հին պետական ավանդույթները»,- հայտարարել է Ադրբեջանի նախագահ Իլհամ Ալիևը։

Նա նշել է, թե «ադրբեջանցիների վերադարձը իրենց պատմական հողեր՝ ներկայիս Հայաստան, չպետք է վախեցնի հայ ժողովրդին»։ «Ես արդեն ասել եմ՝ մենք պետք է այնտեղ վերադառնանք ոչ թե տանկերով, այլ մեքենաներով։ Դրա համար պետք է աշխատեն և պետական կառույցները, և հասարակական կազմակերպությունները, և, իհարկե, գիտնականները»,-հավելել է Ալիևը։

 Ադրբեջանի նախագահը նաև պնդել է, թե իբր 20- րդ դարասկզբի ռուսական հին կայսերական քարտեզներում «պարզ երևում է, որ ներկայիս Հայաստանի տարածքում գրեթե բոլոր տեղանուններն ադրբեջանական ծագում ունեն»։

«Սևանա լիճ չկա, կա Գոյչա լիճ։ Այս քարտեզները մենք չենք պատրաստել. դրանք պատրաստել է ցարական Ռուսաստանը, որը ժամանակին հայերին Իրանից և Արևելյան Անատոլիայից տեղափոխեց Ղարաբաղ՝ էթնիկ կազմը փոխելու համար։ Այս քարտեզները պատմական ճշմարտության արտացոլումն են։ Մենք պետք է դրանք ուսումնասիրենք և հանրահռչակենք», - ասել է Ալիևը։
