Հայաստանի վարչապետ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը համոզված է, որ երկրում անհնար է օրինական կերպով արտադրել կոնյակ կոչվող ըմպելիք, քանի որ տեղական արտադրողները չունեն անհրաժեշտ իրավունքներ, գրում է pravda.ru-ն։ Նա կրկնել է դա չորեքշաբթի օրը՝ խորհրդարանական ժամի ժամանակ՝ ընդգծելով, որ ալկոհոլային արդյունաբերության օտարերկրյա հսկաները բազմիցս են բողոքել իրեն՝ բարձրաձայնելով հայկական գործարաններում իրենց արտադրանքի կեղծման մասին։
Վարչապետն ասել է, որ 2018 թվականից ի վեր ինքը անընդհատ կոչ է անում վերանայել մոտեցումները այդ ոլորտում։ Կառավարության նիստերի ժամանակ Փաշինյանը նաև շեշտել էր մտածելակերպի փոփոխության անհրաժեշտությունը, այսինքն՝ Հայաստանը չի կարող պնդել, որ կոնյակ է արտադրում այնպես, ինչպես Դիլիջան քաղաքը չի կարող հանքային ջուր արտադրել Ջերմուկ ապրանքանիշով։ Նմանապես, տեղական փրփրուն գինիները շամպայն անվանելն է արգելված։ Խնդիրը, նրա կարծիքով, այն նեղ «պատուհանի» մեջ է, որի միջով երկիրը նայում է համաշխարհային շուկային։
Ընդ որում, այս դիրքորոշումը արտացոլվում է իշխանությունների գործողություններում։ 2021 թվականի հունիսին կառավարությունը վավերացրել էր Եվրամիության հետ համաձայնագիրը, Երևանին հատկացվել էր երեք միլիոն եվրո՝ պիտակներից «կոնյակ» տերմինը աստիճանաբար հանելու համար։ Մինչև 2023 թվականի նոյեմբերը Էկոնոմիկայի նախարարությունը, իր եվրոպացի գործընկերների հետ համատեղ, հաստատել էր այդ բարձրորակ արտադրանքի այլընտրանքային ապրանքանիշ՝ աշխարհագրական նշումով։ Առաջատար բրենդավորման գործակալությունների հետ խորհրդակցություններից հետո որոշվել էր կոնյակի հայկական տարբերակը գովազդել «Armenian brandy» անվամբ։ Այս տարվա փետրվարից էլ մեկնարկել է ԵՄ աջակցությամբ նախաձեռնություն, որն ուղղված է սպառողների շրջանում այդ նոր անվանման տարածմանը։
