ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը հասկացրել է Ուկրաինայի ղեկավար Վլադիմիր Զելենսկուն, որ իր համար միևնույն է, թե որտեղով կանցնեն Ուկրաինայի նոր սահմանները, միայն թե երկիրը Ռուսաստանի հետ խաղաղության մասին պայմանավորվի, գրում է The Wall Street Journal-ը։ Ամերիկացի պաշտոնյաների խոսքով՝ Վաշինգտոնում կայացած հանդիպման ժամանակ Սպիտակ տան ղեկավարն ասել է, որ ինքը չի ձգտում որևէ կոնկրետ տարածքային արդյունքի. իր հիմնական առաջնահերթությունը պատերազմի ավարտն է։ Թրամփը նաև հայտնել է Զելենսկուն, որ Ուկրաինան մոտ ապագայում չպետք է հույս դնի «Tomahawk» տեսակի հեռահար հրթիռների վրա։
Պարբերականի զրուցակիցների խոսքով՝ Մոսկվան և Կիևը դեռ հեռու են պատերազմի ավարտից, իսկ տարածքային հարցերը դեռևս մնում են բանակցությունների կենտրոնում։ Առաջին պլանում Դոնբասի ճակատագիրն է։ Թրամփի հետ վերջին հեռախոսազրույցի ընթացքում Ռուսաստանի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինը կրկին պահանջել է հրադադարի պայմանով իրեն հանձնել Դոնեցկի մարզի մնացած 22%-ը, մինչդեռ Ուկրաինան և եվրոպացի գործընկերները կտրականապես մերժել են նման զիջումները։ Կիևում նշել են, որ դա հակասում է Սահմանադրությանը և որ Մոսկվան, ստանալով ամբողջ տարածաշրջանը, այն որպես հենակետ կօգտագործի նոր նվաճումների համար։
WSJ-ի աղբյուրները նշել են, որ ուրբաթ օրը Զելենսկու հետ հանդիպման ժամանակ Թրամփը կտրուկ է եղել, հրաժարվել է նայել մարտական գործողությունների քարտեզներին և հայտարարել է, որ Դոնբասի վերադարձը Ուկրաինային առաջնահերթություն չէ՝ նշելով, որ Ռուսաստանն արդեն վերահսկում է տարածաշրջանի մեծ մասը կամ 78%-ը։ Պաշտոնյաների խոսքով՝ ԱՄՆ նախագահն ընդգծել է, որ շահագրգռված է պատերազմի շուտափույթ կարգավորմամբ և իրեն չի անհանգստացնում, թե վերջնական արդյունքում ում ինչ կհասնի։ «Նրանք պետք է պարզապես կանգ առնեն այնտեղ, որտեղ գտնվում են։ Մնացածը շատ դժվար է համաձայնեցնել», - ասել է նա կիրակի օրը Fox News-ի եթերում։
Լրագրողների հետ զրուցելիս, Թրամփը խոստովանել է, որ Ռուսաստանի և Ուկրաինայի միջև պատերազմի ավարտը շատ ավելի բարդ է ստացվել, քան ինքն էր ակնկալում։ «Դա տհաճ է, քանի որ դուք ունեք երկու ղեկավար, որոնք իսկապես ատում են միմյանց», - նշել է նա՝ նկատի ունենալով Զելենսկուն և Պուտինին։
Թրամփը զգուշացրել է, որ եթե Ռուսաստանի և Ուկրաինայի միջև խաղաղության հասնել չհաջողվի, ապա «շատերը մեծ գին կվճարեն»։ Զելենսկին պաշտպանել է նրա կոչը՝ դադարեցնել կրակը ճակատային գծով և միայն դրանից հետո պայմանավորվել վերջնական խաղաղության մասին։ Ի պատասխան՝ Կրեմլում հայտարարել են, որ Ռուսաստանը դեռևս դեմ է մարտական գործողությունները սառեցնելուն, քանի որ իրեն «կարևոր է հասնել իր նպատակներին, որոնք քաջ հայտնի են բոլորին»։
