Հոկտեմբերի 18-ին Երևանի Ազատության հրապարակը դարձավ վերջին տարիների ամենամարդաշատ քաղաքական բեմը։ «Մեր ձևով» շարժման կողմից կազմակերպված հանրահավաքին, ըստ նախնական գնահատականների, մասնակցել է շուրջ 30 հազար քաղաքացի, որոշ գնահատականներով՝ մինչև 40 հազար մարդ։ Սա ոչ միայն աջակցություն էր ապօրինի կալանքի տակ գտնվող ազգային բարերար Սամվել Կարապետյանին, հոգևորականներին և մյուս քաղբանտարկյալներին, այլև հանրային լայն շրջանակների քաղաքական պահանջների ձևակերպումն էր։

Նշենք, որ հանրահավաքին նախորդած օրերին Կարապետյանի դատավարության ընթացքում դատարանի բակում հազարավոր մարդիկ էին հավաքվում։

Շարժման համակարգող Նարեկ Կարապետյանը հանրահավաքում շեշտեց, որ շարժման հաջորդ քայլը իշխանափոխության հասնելն է խաղաղ, ընտրական ճանապարհով․ «Հայ ժողովուրդն ունի հնարավորություն արդար ընտրություններով, լավ աշխատանքով իշխանությունից հեռացնել այս խմբակին։ Մենք բոլորս պետք է պատրաստ լինենք այդ ընտրություններին»,- նշեց նա՝ փաստացի ազդարարելով շարժման ինստիտուցիոնալացման և քաղաքական կազմակերպության ձևավորման ճանապարհի մեկնարկը։

Արամ Վարդևանյանի ելույթը շարժման արժեքային առանցքի ձևակերպումներից մեկը դարձավ։ Նա հայտարարեց․ «Այո՛, ես իմ եղբոր պահապանն եմ, այո՛, ես իմ Սրբազանների պահապանն եմ, ես ազգային բարերարի պահապանն եմ, ես իմ Մայր Աթոռի պահապանն եմ»։ Նրա խոսքով՝ վերջին յոթ տարիներին իրականացվել է քաղբանտարկյալների պաշտպանություն, և շարժման վերջնական նպատակը պետք է լինի քաղաքական հետապնդումների բացառումը Հայաստանում։

Հանրահավաքից հետո բազմահազարանոց երթը շարժվեց դեպի ԱԱԾ շենք, որտեղ 120 օրից ավելի է՝ պահվում է Սամվել Կարապետյանը։ Երթը գլխավորում էին Կարապետյանի ընտանիքի անդամները։ ԱԱԾ շենքի մոտ մեծաքանակ ոստիկանական ուժեր էին կենտրոնացած։ Այստեղ Վարդևանյանը հայտարարեց, որ Կարապետյանը նույնիսկ կալանքի պայմաններում խոսում է ոչ թե իր գործի մասին, այլ ծրագրերի, որոնք նախատեսում է Հայաստանի զարգացման համար։ Նա նաև ընդգծեց, որ շարժման կուսակցական ձևավորման պարագայում Կարապետյանը պատրաստ է ստանձնել կուսակցության նախագահի դերակատարությունը։

Հանրահավաքին մասնակցում էին տարբեր ընդդիմադիր ուժերի ներկայացուցիչներ։ ԼՀԿ փոխնախագահ Դավիթ Խաժակյանը հայտարարեց․ «Սրբազաններին և բարերարին բանտում պահելը վկայում է ՔՊ-ի վախերի մասին, այլապես մարդկանց ձայնը չէին փորձի լռեցնել»։ Շարժման մասշտաբային աճը, մարզերում անցկացվող հանդիպումների ընդլայնումը, ինչպես նաև շարժման ղեկավարության՝ բիզնես ոլորտում ունեցած կառավարչական փորձը վկայում են, որ այն աստիճանաբար դուրս է գալիս սոցիալական-մոբիլիզացիոն հարթությունից և տեղափոխվում է ծրագրային-քաղաքական դաշտ։

Հոկտեմբերի 18-ի հանրահավաքը փաստացի ոչ միայն աջակցական ակցիա էր, այլև քաղաքական հայտ․ «Մեր ձևով» շարժումը ցույց տվեց, որ ունի զանգվածային հանրային աջակցություն, կազմակերպվածություն և զարգացման հստակ ռեսուրս։ Սա Հայաստանի ներքաղաքական դաշտում նոր ուժային կենտրոնի ձևավորման տեսանելի փուլերից մեկն էր։
