«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է.

«Կարենը շատ չարաճճի, աշխույժ երեխա էր։ Շատ էր սիրում կենդանիներ։ Հիմնականում սիրում էր շուն պահել»,-«Փաստի» հետ զրույցում ասում է Մարինեն՝ Կարենի քույրը։ Նա հավելում է՝ եղբոր տարերքը սպորտն էր. «Փոքր տարիքից սպորտի է հաճախել, զբաղվել է հունահռոմեական ըմբշամարտով»։

Կարենը ծնունդով Վարդենիսից է։ Սովորել է Վարդենիսի թիվ 3 հիմնական դպրոցում։ «Դպրոցին զուգահեռ սպորտով էր զբաղվում։ Արդեն հասցրել էր մրցույթների մասնակցել։ 2005 թվականին Լեհաստանում կայացած մրցումներից վերադարձավ ոսկե մեդալով»։

Դպրոցն ավարտելուց հետո Կարենն ուսումը շարունակում է մայրաքաղաքում՝ Երևանի օլիմպիական հերթափոխի պետական մարզական քոլեջում։ Երբ հարցնում եմ Կարենի՝ դպրոցական սիրելի առարկայի մասին, քույրիկն արձագանքում է՝ եղբայրը շատ էր սիրում «Պատմություն» առարկան, երազում էր իրավաբան դառնալու մասին. «Որոշել էր սպորտն ու իրավաբանությունը համատեղել»։

2020 թվականի հունվարի 9-ին Կարենը զորակոչվում է ժամկետային ծառայության։ Ծառայում էր Ջրականում։ Մարինեն ասում է՝ եղբայրը մեծ սիրով է մեկնել ծառայության։ «Համավարակի շրջանն էր, այնքան էր ուզում արձակուրդ գալ, բայց, բնականաբար, չէր կարող։ Միշտ հարցնում էր, թե երբ է ավարտվելու համավարակը։ Սեպտեմբերն էր, զանգահարեց, ասաց, որ իրենց զորամաս մասնագիտական խումբ է այցելել, մարզիկ ծառայողներից ոմանց տեղափոխելու են Նուբարաշենի զորամաս։ Ոգևորված պատմում էր, որ իքս քանակով ձգում վարժություն է կատարել։ Ասում էր. «Եթե արձակուրդ էլ չգամ, արդեն դուք կգաք ինձ մոտ»։ Բայց սեպտեմբերի 26-ին բարձրացավ դիրքեր։ Ծառայության ընթացքում երկրորդ անգամ էր դիրք բարձրանում»։

Սեպտեմբերի 27-ին սկսվում է պատերազմը։ «Այդ օրը երեկոյան ժամը յոթի մոտակայքում իր հետ խոսել եմ։ Հարցրեցի՝ հո չես վախենում, արձագանքեց՝ ի՞նչ վախենալ։ Որևէ անհանգստություն, լարվածություն իրենից չէր զգացվում։ Սեպտեմբերի 28-ին էլ մայրիկի հետ է խոսել, և վերջ։ Այդ օրվանից իրենից բացարձակ տեղեկություն չենք ունեցել»։

Մարինեն ասում է՝ պատերազմական օրերի մասին իրենց ունեցած տեղեկությունները շատ չեն։ «Իր հետ ծառայող մի տղայի հետ կարողացանք կապ հաստատել։ Նա հորեղբորս ասել էր՝ Կարենին մի փնտրեք, որովհետև ես իրեն տեսել եմ ընկած, հագին էլ կապույտ վերնահագուստ էր»։ Հավանաբար, ծառայակից ընկերն ընտանիքին հուշել է՝ Կարենին պետք է փնտրել զոհվածների, ոչ թե ողջերի մեջ։

Կարենն անմահացել է հոկտեմբերի 4-ին Ջրականում։ Զոհվելու օրը նշված է դատաբժշկական փորձաքննության մեջ։ «Երբ գնացել ենք դիահերձարան, իր մարմինն անճանաչելի է եղել։ ԴՆԹ հետազոտության պատասխաններով գիտենք, որ նա է»։ Կարենի «վերադարձը» տուն շուտ է տեղի ունեցել։

Երբ հարցնում եմ ապրելու ուժի մասին, Մարինեն արձագանքում է՝ դժվար է այդ հարցին պատասխանելը։ «Բարդ հարց է։ Ամեն օր իրեն հիշելով ենք ապրում։ Երևի անգամ կարող եմ ասել, որ ուժ տվող ոչինչ էլ չկա, ուղղակի համակերպվում, ապրում ես՝ կարոտելով, իր մասին հիշողություններով»։
