Ռուսաստանի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինը Աշխատանքի հերոսի կոչում է շնորհել Ռուսաստանի ֆուտբոլային միության առաջին փոխնախագահ և Մոսկվայի «Սպարտակ»-ի նախկին ֆուտբոլիստ Նիկիտա Սիմոնյանին:

98-ամյա Սիմոնյանը կոչումը ստացել է ռուսական ֆուտբոլի զարգացման և մասսայականացման մեջ իր նշանակալի ներդրման համար:

Սիմոնյանը 1956 թվականին ԽՍՀՄ հավաքականի կազմում նվաճել է օլիմպիական ոսկե մեդալ: 1958 թվականին ԽՍՀՄ հավաքական նորամուտը նշել է աշխարհի առաջնությունում, որտեղ եղել է թիմի ավագը: Նա խփել է Խորհրդային հավաքականի առաջին գոլն Անգլիայի դեմ խաղում: Մրցաշարից հետո հարձակվողը հեռացել է ազգային հավաքականից՝ ընդհանուր առմամբ խաղալով 20 խաղ և խփելով 10 գոլ:

Սիմոնյանը ԽՍՀՄ առաջնություններում խաղացել է 285 խաղ՝ խփելով 145 գոլ: Նա «Սպարտակի» հետ նվաճել է ԽՍՀՄ առաջնության չեմպիոնի կոչումը 1952, 1953, 1956 և 1958 թվականներին, իսկ ԽՍՀՄ գավաթը՝ 1950 և 1958 թվականներին։ Նա «կարմիր-սպիտակների» բոլոր ժամանակների լավագույն ռմբարկուն է 160 գոլով։ Որպես մարզիչ՝ Սիմոնյանը երկու անգամ Մոսկվայի «Սպարտակին» տարել է ԽՍՀՄ առաջնության ոսկե մեդալների (1962 և 1969), իսկ մեկ անգամ՝ Երևանի «Արարատ»-ին (1973)։

1998 թվականի դեկտեմբերին Սիմոնյանն ընտրվել է Ռուսաստանի ֆուտբոլային միության փոխնախագահ, իսկ ավելի ուշ՝ առաջին փոխնախագահ։
