Ֆիլիպինների ափերի մոտ 7.4 մագնիտուդ ուժգնությամբ երկրաշարժ է տեղի ունեցել, ինչը մեծացնում է ցունամիի առաջացման վտանգը։ Այս մասին հայտնում են ամերիկացի սեյսմոլոգներն ու օդերևութաբանները, փոխանցում է ՌԻԱ «Նովոստին»։
Ֆիլիպինների հրաբխագիտության և սեյսմոլոգիայի ինստիտուտի տվյալներով՝ երկրաշարժի ուժգնությունը կազմել է 7.6 մագնիտուդ։
