Մոտ մեկ ամիս առաջ հայտնի դարձավ, որ ՀՀ Մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպան, ԱՄՆ-ի եւ Եվրոպայի մի շարք հայտնի համալսարաններում սովորած, Հայաստանի եւ Եվրոպայի ամենատարբեր իրավաբանական ընկերություններում որպես իրավապաշտպան աշխատած Կարեն Անդրեասյանը հրաժարականի դիմում է ներկայացրել: Չուշացավ նաեւ նախկին օմբուդսմենի պաշտոնը դադարեցնելու հայտարարագիրը:
Բարձրաստիճան պաշտոնատար անձանց էթիկայի հանձնաժողովի հրապարակած փաստաթղթում տեղ գտած գրառումների համաձայն՝ Կարեն Անդրեասյանն ունի մեկ բնակարան ու դեռեւս իրավունքների պետական գրանցում չստացած, բայց ՀՀ անշարժ գույքի կադաստրի կողմից հաշվառված ու գնահատված մեկ շինություն: Անդրեասյանի դրամական միջոցները պաշտոնը դադարեցնելու օրվա դրությամբ կազմել են 43 միլիոն դրամ: Հունվար ամսվա համար Անդրեասյանի եկամուտները գոյացել են աշխատավարձից եւ կազմել 780 հազար դրամ:
Ուշագրավ է, որ նախկին օմբուդսմենի դրամական միջոցները վերջին մեկ տարվա ընթացքում ոչ թե աճել, ինչպես լինում է Հայաստանի պաշտոնյաներից մեծ մասի դեպքում, այլ նվազել են: 2014թ. Անդրեասյանն ունեցել է 56 միլիոն դրամ՝ 13 միլիոնով ավելի, քան հրաժարականի պահին: Անդրեասյանի կինը՝ Հայաստանի փաստաբանների պալատի անդամ եւ Am իրավաբանական ընկերության բաժնետեր, փաստաբան Եվա Առաքելյանը, 2015թ հայտարարգրում նշել է 30 միլիոն դրամ եւ աշխատավարձից ստացված եկամուտ՝ մոտ 6,5 միլիոն դրամի չափով:
