Ծխախոտային արտադրանքի, դրանց թվում՝ ծխախոտների, նարգիլեների և ծամելի ծխախոտ օգտագործողների թիվը 2000-2024 թվականների միջև նվազել է, սակայն ամբողջ աշխարհում յուրաքանչյուր հինգերորդ չափահասը դեռևս տառապում է ծխախոտային կախվածությունից, տվյալները հայտնել է Առողջապահության համաշխարհային կազմակերպությունը:

«Ծխախոտ օգտագործողների թիվը 2000 թվականի 1,38 միլիարդից 2024 թվականին նվազել է, հասնելով մինչև 1,2 միլիարդի»,- ասված է կազմակերպության 2000-2024 թվականների ծխախոտի սպառման միտումների վերաբերյալ նոր զեկույցի մամուլի հաղորդագրության մեջ: «Ընդսմին, ծխախոտը շարունակում է կախվածություն առաջացնել ամբողջ աշխարհում յուրաքանչյուր հինգերորդ չափահասի համար, ինչը տարեկան հանգեցնում է միլիոնավոր կանխարգելելի մահերի»:

Կազմակերպությունը նշել է, որ 2010 թվականից ի վեր ծխախոտ օգտագործող մարդկանց թիվը նվազել է 120 միլիոնով, ինչը համեմատական առումով կազմում է 27%-ով նվազում:

Զեկույցը հիմնված է աշխարհի բնակչության 97%-ը ընդգրկող ավելի քան 2000 ազգային հարցումների արդյունքների վրա: Այն կազմվել է՝ ԱՀԿ-ի սահմանած՝ 2025 թվականի դրությամբ ծխախոտի համաշխարհային սպառման 30%-ով համեմատաբար կրճատման նպատակին հասնելու առաջընթացը հետևելու համար: Կազմակերպության տվյալներով՝ ներկայիս առաջընթացը կազմում է 27%, ինչը 50 միլիոն սպառողով պակաս է նպատակից:
