Ֆլորիդայի ափերի մոտ հայտնաբերվել են XVII դարի գանձեր՝ ավելի քան 400 մլն դոլարի ոսկի եւ արծաթ

Այս ամռանը Ֆլորիդայի ափերի մոտ ջրասուզակները հայտնաբերել են ավելի քան 1 000 ոսկե եւ արծաթե մետաղադրամ 1715 թվականի Treasure Fleet նավաբեկությունից, հաղորդել է Live Science-ը։
«1715 Fleet – Queens Jewels» ստորջրյա հնագիտական ընկերությունը, որը նավաբեկության վայրում աշխատելու լիցենզիա ունի, հայտնել է, որ գտածոների թվում են ավելի քան 1 000 արծաթե ռեալ (հայտնի են նաեւ որպես «pieces of eight»), 5 ոսկե էսկուդո եւ այլ հազվագյուտ ոսկե արտեֆակտներ։
Մետաղադրամները, կարծես, հատվել են Մեքսիկայի, Պերուի եւ Բոլիվիայի իսպանական գաղութներում։ Մետաղադրամներից մի քանիսը կրում են դրամահատարանի տարբերանշաններ եւ ամսաթվեր, դրանց գերազանց վիճակը ցույց է տալիս, որ դրանք, հավանաբար, միասին են պահվել, եւ երբ նավերից մեկը խորտակվել է, հավաքածուն արագորեն թաղվել է նստվածքի տակ։
1715թ․ «Գանձերի նավատորմը», որը հայտնի է նաեւ որպես «Plate Fleet», հուլիսի 24-ին Կուբայից նավարկել է Իսպանիա վերադառնալու ճանապարհով։ Նավի վրա իսպանական գաղութներից բազմաթիվ գանձեր կային։ Մի քանի օր նավարկելուց հետո նավատորմը հայտնվել է Ֆլորիդայի արեւելյան ափին տեղի ունեցած հզոր փոթորկի մեջ։ 12 նավերից 11-ը խորտակվել են, դրանց բեկորները ցրվել են մոտ 80 կիլոմետր հեռավորության վրա։
Գանձերի մի մասը ջրից հանվել է աղետից կարճ ժամանակ անց, բայց շատերը դարեր շարունակ մնացել են ջրի տակ։
