Իրավապահները երեկ հաղորդեցին, որ Մերձավանում Փարաքարի համայնքապետ Վալոդյա Գրիգորյանի և նրա ընկերոջ՝ ոստիկան Կարեն Աբրահամյանի սպանության գործով ձերբակալվել է մեկ անձ։ Ըստ Քննչական կոմիտեի՝ քրեական վարույթի նախաքննության ընթացքում կատարված անհետաձգելի գործողությունների արդյունքում ձերբակալվածին պատկանող շինությունում հայտնաբերվել են հանցագործությանը վերջինիս առնչությունը հաստատող բացահայտ հետքեր, այդ թվում՝ հանցագործության կատարման պահին օգտագործված դիմակը, ձեռնոցները, կոշիկները, բաճկոնը, գիշերային տեսանելիության սարքը, որոնք վերջինս փորձել է այրման եղանակով ոչնչացնել։ Ձերբակալվածը փետրվարին Մերձավանում սպանված Գրիգոր Օհանյանի եղբայրն է։ Փետրվարին Մերձավանի քպական նախկին վարչական ղեկավար Մհեր Ախտոյանի տան մոտ զինված բախում էր եղել, սպանվել էր նրա ազգականը՝ 29-ամյա Գրիգոր Օհանյանը, և այս գործով մեղադրյալներից է նաև Վալոդյա Գրիգորյանի եղբայրը։ Վալոդյա Գրիգորյանի սպանությունից անմիջապես հետո՝ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը հայտարարել էր, որ դեպքը վենդետա է և քաղաքական գործունեության հետ առնչություն չունի։ Ըստ էության, իրավապահները հենց այդ վարկածն էլ քննարկել են, որպես ուղենիշ ընտրել և ձերբակալել Գրիգոր Օհանյանի եղբորը՝ Նարեկ Օհանյանին։

Գործով նաև իշխանությունը քավություն նոխազներ է նշանակել։ Հասկանալով, որ դրա արձագանքները բավական ծանր են լինելու իրենց համար, որոշել են զոհել, ընդ որում, ոչ թե բարձրաստիճան պաշտոնյաների, այլ քրեական ոստիկանության Արմավիրի մարզային վարչության պետ Արթուր Բդոյանին և նույն մարզի քննչական վարչության պետ Հրաչյա Ղազարյանին։ Ըստ էության, հաստատելով, որ իրավապահ համակարգի թերացումը եղել է տեղի ունեցած զազրելի ոճրագործությունը։ Այս ամենը, սակայն, ամենևին էլ չի նվազեցնում գործող իշխանության և անձամբ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի պատասխանատվությունը։ Վերջինիս պաշտոնավարման օրոք Հայաստանում այնպիսի իրավիճակ է ստեղծվել և խորացել, որ մարդիկ արդարադատության վրա հույս չեն դնում, և իսկ վենդետաները դարձել են սովորական երևույթ։
