ՀՀ երկրորդ և երրորդ նախագահներ Ռոբերտ Քոչարյանը և Սերժ Սարգսյանն այդ գաղափարը դիտարկել են որպես երկրի անկախությանը սպառնացող ուղղակի սպառնալիք։ «Եկել է այն ժամանակը, երբ մեր անկախության ապագան կախված է մեզանից յուրաքանչյուրի վճռականությունից և հայրենիքին նվիրվածությունից», - ընդգծել է Քոչարյանը։ Իր հերթին՝ Սարգսյանը հայտարարել է, որ ժամանակն է «ոչ» ասել կառավարող կապիտուլ յանտներին։ «Նրանք, ովքեր անհեթեթություններ են ասում հանրապետության համար նոր համարակալման համակարգի մասին, փորձում են ջնջել մեր հիշողությունը, խեղաթյուրել պատմությունը, ժխտել անցյալը և մերժել հաղթանակները։ Բայց պատմությունը զրոյից չի սկսվում։ Արյունը չի կարող ջուր դառնալ, զոհաբերությունը չի կարող վիճակագրություն դառնալ, հերոսությունը չի կարող պատմական սխալ դառնալ», - պնդել է նա:
