66-ամյա Ալեքսանդրե Կարտոզիան, որը 1998-2004 թվականներին նախագահ Շևարդնաձեի կառավարությունում եղել է Վրաստանի կրթության նախարար, Գերմանիայում Վրաստանի դեսպան է նշանակվել, հայտնել է Грузия  Online-ը։

Պրոֆեսոր Կարտոզիան երկար տարիներ ապրել է Գերմանիայում։ 2022 թվականին նա պարգևատրվել է Գերմանիայի այն ժամանակվա դեսպան Հուբերտ Կնիրշի շնորհած Գերմանիայի ծառայությունների շքանշանով։

Կարտոզիան զբաղեցրել է առաջատար ակադեմիական պաշտոններ Վրաստանի պետական ​​համալսարանում, աշխատել է հետազոտող, դասախոսություններ և սեմինարներ է անցկացրել Բեռլինի, Ֆրանկֆուրտի և Բրեմենի առաջատար համալսարաններում։

2024 թվականի վերջից ի վեր Վրաստանը Գերմանիայում դեսպան չի ունեցել։ Այդ պաշտոնը ավելի վաղ զբաղեցնում էր պաշտպանության նախկին նախարար Լևան Իզորիան, որի հրաժեշտի հանդիպումը տեղի ունեցավ 2024 թվականի հոկտեմբերի 31-ին: 2025 թվականի հունվարի 20-ին Իզորիան նշանակվեց կրթության հարցերով Իրակլի Կոբախիձեի խորհրդական։  

Կարտոզիայի նշանակումը տեղի ունեցավ Թբիլիսիի և Բեռլինի միջև քաղաքական հարաբերությունների կտրուկ վատթարացման ֆոնին, որոնք վերջին տարիներին հասել էին իրենց ամենացածր կետին: Վրաստանում Գերմանիայի դեսպանը պարբերաբար քննադատության է ենթարկվում «Վրացական երազանք» կուսակցության առաջատար դեմքերի կողմից, և կոշտ հռետորաբանության ֆոնին նրա դեմ նույնիսկ հարձակում է եղել:
